what is the best behemoth album?

i got their newest one, and it is like almost pure death metal, like i can barely hear any sense of black metal in it, so im looking for their best black metal album.

It's a compilation of their black metal stuff.

Don't buy Chaotica, it's not an official band release. If you want a compilation get Demonica instead.

Anyhow, either of those compilations would be a good start.

Because Chaotica is basically a bunch of songs from Sventevith and Grom thrown onto one disk as a money-grab for Metal Mind.

It's still not a big deal, and Chaotica is actually not that bad for the most part. Just because the label put out the record, a. doesn't mean it's not a decent grab, and b. doesn't change the integrity of the music.

Dude, GET CHAOTICA....it's cool regardless of who the money goes to. You want more money going to Behemoth? Buy their "official" releases as well.

Well, it's hard to compare death vs. black metal releases.. From the blackmetal era it's Sventevith and from the latest releases it's Zos Kia Cultus.

Considering they only have two full-lengths that are pure black metal, the logical choice would be Grom.

Demigod is excellent. I haven't heard ZKC, but it's supposed to be awesome as well. Satanica and Pandemonic Incantations are both good.

Any of the last three, I enjoy Apostasy, Demigod, and Zos Kia Cultus. Those albums are decent the whole way through. Out of their older bm stuff, they can kinda come off as goofy from time to time....so really their later material is it.

Sventevith and Grom, I would say. I'm not too familiar(nor am I much of a fan) with their death metal.

Is The Apostasy any good? I'm intrigued by the symphonic influences on it.

Apostasy is quite meh.
My favorite is ZKC. a Top album on my list as it is.

Pandemonic Incantations is their most symphonic. You ought to get that instead.
