Behexen 'By The Blessing Of Satan' is an excellent disc, but I had to rip the CD and put it away in hiding forever, because I have so much trouble getting into the vibe after seeing the silly band pics in the album liner. Are these guys actually trying to look like poser goofballs, or are the seriously in need of a publicist. The capes they're all wearing plus the HUGE amount of jewelry (necklaces mostly) is just total bafoonery!

Why do so many BM bands act so goofy like this? I'm sure everybody could come up with a thousand pics of BM goofiness, but my point is that in the modern world, black metal needs to do more than they did in the 80's and early 90's to show us they're serious. Deathspell Omega doesn' put pictures of themselves in their CDs. Drudkh doesn't either. I take bands like that seriously. I actually don't read lyrics, so that probably saves me from even more black metal goofiness.

Black metal bands shouldn't be allowed to take pictures of themselves or print lyrics. In a modern world where Islamic facists and politicians are the most evil things on earth (and not the dreaded CHRISTIANS!), BM bands need to do a little more than wear upside down crosses and pentagrams and paint their faces whilst posing in a graveyard or something.

BTW, why aren't there a bunch of bands (not necessarily BM bands) singing about the evils of Islam?

Because, unlike modern born again christians, radical muslims are unforgiving and will actually fucking kill you and put a jihad on your whole family.

black metal musicians know they can get away with poking fun at christianity because there's no real repercussion.

Thing is, what are we talking about at the end of the day? A bunch of metalheads that like listening to heavy metal, they end up preferring a certain style / subgenre, they end up playing in a band....I would imagine that most metal artists play for the love of the music over the political statement behind it. It might help motivate with the feelings behind it, as well as the lyrics, but at the end of the day, it's all about the music.

Let's face it, take away the bullet belts, corpse paint, upside down crosses, and you're left with a bunch of nerds. We're all nerds aren't we?

tell that to salman rushdie or whoever published those cartoons. it's got to have something to do with it.

that said, i do recognize that lots of BM musicians reflect upon their lands being desecrated by the christians and the muslims haven't really done anything like that.

in fact, ironically enough, islam stands against the western desecration of their holy lands so perhaps muslims and true BM musicians have something in common.

Well there's a release called Muslim Genocide by Devilry.

Truth

I don't really think their image is that laughable, although I admit a couple of the band photos are a bit over the top. Hardly more embarrassing than Gorgoroth or Immortal band photos, though?

Black metal has so much in common with black Americans it's almost funny.

I agree that it's all about the music, though. But still . . . I have a tough time taking certain bands seriously, which makes their music a little less solid for me.

Drudkh sings about the evils of communism on the Ukraine . . . correct? I have no problem with bands singing about the people that oppressed them, but all these BM bands singing about the oppression of Christians on their land is getting to the point of pure silliness. I still like the music, though.

BTW: It's because people want to fantasize about some crazy forcefull mass-converting Christian ass-rapping/Pagan Vs. Christian war that happend to their ancestors, when the fact is 99.9999999% just said 'Oh sounds good' and signed right up.

I'm pretty sure it is, it has all Heathen, slavonic conotations in there. The lyrics for Blood In Our Wells was actually all Ukrainian poetry from a few famous guys, incase you didnt know.

Well the history books are lol then.

ALSO URAGUAY

PS: I know mine was an exageration but it's funny how many people really think there was some all out war between honorable Pagan warriors and Christian warrior-missionaries.

PPS: If there was that would rule and if you have info I'de love to read it.
