i find it hard to notice the bass play, perhaps because i don't play any instruments myself, but i think that a poor bass section pretty often might be the reason for the comment that "there's something i don't like about this records but i can't really say what"

Steve Harris, especially on the earlier albums. I can't stand the clackity-clack sound.

Andy Fraser (I think is his name?) has a killer bass solo on Mr Big...totally awesome.

Joey DeMaio, of course.

All those other 70s rock bassists. I just dig that kind of sound. Love it.

And I have to say...I never really saw the fuss over Cliff Burton either.
