Belladonna returns driving new album up charts

Not sure why they named the article the way they did, since it had nothing to do with the charts, but a good read anyway.

i have no doubt that this record will sell better than 'Stomp', 'Vol.8' & WCFYA for todays standards, 'Stomp' only sold 100.000 copies and 'Vol.8' only 80.000 in the first months or 1st year in a time before illegal downloads decreased sales.

This day in age if you sell 100k albums is considered a big success. Back when Stomp, Volume 8, and WCFYA came out 100k albums for a big band like Anthrax was a total bust.

I will say they will sell about 20k the first week and will land them in the top 20 on billboard. But I am not sure it will go over 80k in the first month. I just see trends in how albums are sold and nobody except lady gaga and a few stupid rap artists are selling more than 100k albums these days.

Will be fun to see!

There's was a discussion on here debating this.. so here's someone's take on it.

Well Belladonna is 100 percent whey this album is getting all of the hype it is. If Don Nelson was on vocals it wouldn't have gotten 1/2 the publicity.

"Anthrax returns with a new vocalist named Don Nelson" - That wouldn't really go over too well with any old school Anthrax fans. They would just laugh and be like 'oh man yet another singer?? wtf' and that would have been it.

Its funny all of the horrible decisions this band has made over the past 20 years. Now Joey comes back out of desperation as their last resort and it's the best business decision they have made in the past 20 years.

Fuckin idiots they are when it comes to business. But I guess finally something seems to be working out for them... hopefully Joey gets a bigger piece of the pie than those guys!

Alex - when you last checked your hearing? Nothing wrong with your imagination though...:)

Actually, As a Huge John era fan... Alex is right.

Have you heard Crawl? It sounds like it was written during the WCFYA sessions.

Joey is using the lower end on his voice on this album way more then on any other Anthrax record he sang on. He easily could have been on SOWN and beyond.

No, no, no...kids...Joey IS missing the balls or whatever to sing like real men do. And he is saying - he is not afraid to say - that also in the interviews. He can say that because he feels safe in the band right now...
...or he is a mean bugger who wants to remind the other guys that they replaced him with "The Voice of ANTHRAX"...:)

I'm a huge John fan too. The phrasing/pronunciations etc on the track devil you know leads me to believe Joey could pull off a song like random acts and it would work quite nicely.

Nothing against that other guy, I like that era too, but this record will sell more since Joey is on it PERIOD.

I've bought one copy. I know that my friend bought another one.....but the rest of the guys - at least here - have been downloading the album for free...:)

...well I bought it because I have the other ones - it is kinda habbit - ...But I didn't find the artwork etc. that "cool" or "nice" or whatever...I still like the cover of ATL the best.

This article sounds like a press release written by their PR specialists or managers if you ask me. Wonder if I have ever read a bigger load of PR crap in a music-related article, and this is with no offense to Anthrax...

hmmm they gave similar comments after reunion and after Nelson came on board and when Bush helped them out...they - Anthrax guys - are great with superlatives...:)

I think the hype of the album is due to a few issues.

1. Joey's back. Like it or not, this is the case with a decent chunk of fans.
2. The Big 4 shows gave them much needed exposure.
3. They're no longer on that black hole of a label Sanctuary.
4. Long waits (like 8 years!) drive up interest.

As for the Bush-era albums, I do think Joey could do those tracks, and even do them well. Sure they'd be different sounding, just like when John sang Joey's stuff. But so what? I'm more than willing to give Joe the chance to try them.
