Best 1176 plugin?

Are there good audio comparison somewhere here ? I've never touched a 1176 or LA2A in real and would find very interesting to actually hear the difference by myself.

Listening back, the rough mix is quite woeful, so please forgive that.

It's pretty obvious on the kick. I've blind tested it a few times and each time I guessed right cause of the kick. With the plugin, the attack seems to me less precise (as if it was a short EQed white noise), and with the hardware, it also sounds rounder and fuller.

On the bass, it's less obvious to me. There's something about the colour more than the compression but I don't think I would win the blindtest 100% of the time if the kick was not there.

I dont have a hardware 1176 but the Softube FET is awesome for metal shouty vocals,
ive got the UAD 1176SE but not had a chance to use it in anger yet.
Powercore 247C is acceptable too for a freebie

I own the UAD, the Waves CLA compressors and the Bomb Factory stuff (BF76 and MC77) and demoed the Softube FET and Stillwell Rocket.

And the winner is...
...UAD 1176LN. Beats the shit out of everything else.

The grab, the transient control with a fast attack and the sonic texture do sound superior on this one. The CLA-76 never made it into a singe mix although I have it for a year, the UAD 1176LN became indispensable for me after a few days. Love it.

Thank you, I keep saying that the UAD plugs are better emulations than anything out there, it's nice to get backed up once in a while

Can you hear a big difference between the 1176LN and 1176SE ?
The SE is supposed to be just a lower DSP consunption version of the LN but i dont have the LN for A/B against and my trial has expried on my card.

Never tried the waves but I love the 1176LN. It's definitely my goto comp when I need something fast and reliable. I use them all over the place.

So much of the UAD stuff is just awesome. One of the best investments I've ever made in the studio.
