Ayeka: strange purchase this weekend, the Schenker-Pattison Summit. It's an album of covers Schenker did with Davey Pattison (ex Robin Trower). Somehow the idea of providing great tunes from great guitarists of the past has spurred Schenker to the hottest soloing on a studio record in easily 15 years.

So he's finally released a decent album? Sweet what guitarists is he covering? This has slipped past me completely...

Mountain (Leslie West, who also plays on a couple of tracks), Montrose (Ronnie Montrose), Hendrix, Trower, Free, Procul Harem (sp)....

seriously, I think the idea of appearing inferior to those guys really goosed him into some great playing. And because these are already proven good songs, its not like his usual crap of rounding up some nobodies and writing and recording an album in a week.

oh - plus the solos aren't copies either. the only irritating part is a really clumsy addition of a rhythm guitar riff during Whiter Shade of Pale.
