Best albums of 1997

Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity
Paradise Lost - One Second
Nightwish - Angels Fall First
Vanden Plas - The God Thing
Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
In Flames - Whoracle
Edguy - Kingdom of Madness
Arcturus - La Masquerade Infernale
Children of Bodom - Something Wild
Enslaved - Eld

Some of my favourite albums of some of those bands in there. Although I can honestly say the only two I actually heard back in '97 was Falling Into Infinity and One Second. The rest I've got into since then.

Alice Cooper - A Fistful of Alice (great live album!)
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Hunters and Collectors - Juggernaut
Supergrass - In it for the Money
The Twelfth Man - Bill Lawry...This Is Your Life :)
Vanishing Point - In Thought
Zimmer's Hole - Bound by Fire

immortal > 99% of bands mentioned on this forum

 at reload and people thinking it is at all good and they played unforgiven 2 live once or twice, once certainly at the billboard awards, i have the vid of it, and it sounds even worse than the recorded version, so you know that it's fucking shite :kickass:

I collect bootlegs and it was an extra, i can assure i wouldnt get it specifically for that

Much like Diary of a Madman was the stuff they didn't want to put on Blizzard of Ozz
Hey, dont be dissin' the Blizzard! hehe

My favourites that I still enjoy today (from 1997)
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I
Necrophobic - Darkside
Keep of Kalessin - Through Times of War
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Dismember - Death Metal

Emperor & Enslaved for me went downhill in this yr.
Immortal I like but I couldnt rate Blizzard Beasts as a fav of that year...

Cant vote for Tea Party as I dont own it but they're always good.

Haha. No Jak it was actually a dig at DOAM. Blizzard is a killer album.

:loco: too many years of heabanging for me.
However, I do love DOAM and possibly even prefer it, how come you dont dig it? SATO, Believer, Little Dolls, Diary of a Madman are the tracks that I listen to the DOAM for.:headbang:

Sorry, I'm derailing the thread but I'm a bit of mad Ozzy fan up to and including NRFTW

I also enjoy laughing at people who have different tastes in music to I, because mine is far superior than theirs. I even download and keep the stuff I hate for no reason.

 GnR are shit, end of story.

shut up gorewanker

They didn't play Unforgiven 2, because they couldn't get it to sound great live.. the same reason they rarely played the original Unforgiven.

And it wasn't throwaway material from Load... many of the songs were around before they wrote songs for Load, but they realised didn't fit in with the sound of Load. Reload is a much darker album than Load is.

They played Unforgiven 1 heaps of times, it was a fixed part of the set for much of the black album tour which went from 1991-1993 and they played it a bunch of times over the recent tour

Didn't this come out in '96?
Yeah, you're right. When I made my list I just did a google search for 1997 and chucked in some bands who I knew had released some good stuff around that year.

A couple more to add from 1997
Gorgoroth - Under The Sign Of Hell
ABSU - The Third Storm of Cythraul
W.A.S.P. - Kill, Fuck, Die:kickass: This one goes straight to the top!
