Best Arcturus album

La Masquerade Infernale is the most original but Aspera has something I cannot figure out, that makes it unique among the black metal catalog. I specially love the operatic vocals in Wintry Grey and Du Nordavind, mixed with that cold atmosphere... It's probably that. My vote goes to Aspera Hiems Symfonia.

La Masquerade Infernale. Unbelievable album. Next is Aspera, and last is TSM. TSM is still an excellent album but it lacks the incredible sense of atmosphere that make Masquerade and Aspera timeless classics. It just seems a little dull and lifeless to me when put up against those two.

Definitely LMI. It has some totally experimental arrangemetns and innovative riffs/vocal patterns. Especially the ones Simen sings on...

Aspera is quite good one of the higher regarded BM-ish albums I own, though it mostly stands out because of the vocals and keys. TSM has some AMAZING tracks, but on the whole it doesn't match the majesty of the others for me. Some songs just seem misguided and uninspirational. But to each their own!
