My problem with Incantation is the vocals. I don't like the "i'm a gorilla garbage disposal" lyrical style.

I liked that pentacle track doomsniff uploaded though.

Out of those: "None So Vile".

My favourite death metal albums are, in no particular order:
  • Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
  • Decapitated - Nihility
  • Blood Red Throne - Affiliated With The Suffering
  • Inveracity - Circle Of Perversion
  • Brodequin - Festival Of Death
  • Brutus - Slachtbeest
  • Severe Torture - Misanthropic Carnage
  • Cannibal Corpse - Tomb Of The Mutilated
  • Disavowed - Perceptive Deceptions
  • Hate Eternal - Conquering The Throne
  • Incantation - Onward To Golgotha
  • Incantation - Decimate Christendom
  • Suffocation - Effigy Of The Forgotten
  • Nile - Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-ka

Honourable mentions to about a million other records that I'm too lazy to list. I love this genre :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

The thing about you Henrik, though...Is that you love that crazy "BROOTAL TECH DEATH METUHL RRAARR!!!!111" stuff. I am more into the old-school DM where they werent competing to see who could out-brutal the others or who could create the most tempo changes per song, etc. None So Vile is one of my favs ever but most of the newer butotech bs is just all technicality and no heart ...ie sterile. I dont even know if I am explaining this right. :loco:

I for one understand and agree completely! (except that I can't stand Cryptopsy) Death metal, much like black metal lost much of its creativity rather early. But old school death metal . . . oh man, how sweet it can be!

I just wish I had found a flair for it earlier than I did, then I could have caught some more acts when I was still actively seeking out metal concerts...

I like a lot of latter day death metal, but I have to agree that some of the originators will always stand out as the best for me. There's a freshness to some of these albums that's just unmatched.

It was a lot more fun when there weren't a zillion clones. Back in the early 90's when I first heard Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, and Carcass all I could think was HOLY SHIT.

OK I'm going out on a limb here because that's the way I roll.....

True, that is one hell of an album. Crushes all the other Nile albums. My favourite death metal album at the moment is probably Despondency - God On Acid, but I have an almost religious relationship with this genre, so it changes all the time.

Easily:
At the Gates - The Red in the Sky
Demilich - Nepithe
Immolation - Dawn of Possession
Carcass - Necroticism
Asphyx - The Rack

Not listed:
Demigod - Slumber of the Sullen Eyes
Incantation - Onward to Golgotha
Morpheus Descends - Ritual of Infinity (better than all Suffocation)
Therion - Beyond Sanctorium
The Chasm - The Conjuration and Deathcult for Eternity
Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry
Cadaver - ...In Pains
Miasma - Changes
Molested - Blod Draum
Rottrevore - Iniquitous

Probably other albums I'm forgetting, but oh well.

The only album I haven't heard is Autopsy, but I've always hear they aren't very good.

Looks like I'll should check them out.

By the way Henrik Main, do you enjoy Crimson Massacre - Luster of Pandemonium?
