best environment for black metal is a cool foggy morning.

Obviously stormy nights are an obvious one for BM listening.
Refer to the stormy weather thread for more information on this topic.

fog rules.
'cept it's never foggy here 'cause it's always >90 goddam degrees.
i hate summer.

driving around in pitch black at 100+ mph while listening to blut aus nord = WIN

but most other black metal doesn't.

i don't get the mountain/freezing thing, probably for the same reason i don't listen to kyuss when i'm stranded in the desert.

being in nature is the about the only time where i want zero music. i prefer to listen to the environment instead.

i've gone camping in below freezing mountain weather 30 miles from my apartment thankyouverymuch. :p

i don't know if people realize this, but that's actually the color of our ocean. yet people wonder why i never visit the beach...

Once when I was little I saw a sea lion carcass attached to some rocks via a bunch of kelp; the waves sent it smashing repeatedly up against the rocks.

that explains why you listen to metal and hate yourself, hate your parents, and clearly HATE AMERICA AS WELL.
