Best Guitar to play Children of Bodom music?

Ok, I don't play guitar... but just for the sound, I wouldn't say to use a Stratocaster, or a Fender anyway, to play CoB's music... because this guitar has a sound which is too refined, in my opinion.
I have no idea if you know that old band called Dire Straits (well, they're not metal at all but I love them)...
The leader of this band, Mark Knopfler, used (at least for their former albums) a Fender Stratocaster, a great guitar that characterized their music with a lot of elegance, and right cause of that guitar's sound... but it seems too clean and sensible for metal music, to me. :)

considering you're not a guitarist, you are damn good informed. Mark Knopfler rules, btw.

But there are some Players who have weird tastes: Jari from Wintersun and M.Shirenc from Pungent Stench play Fender Telecasters. The Obituary-guy plays a Strat.

When it comes to "harder stuff", Strats are very popular in the 80s-Shredder-Guitarhero-scene.

dude the guitar doesnt really bother its the minor things like pedal and tuning and shit like

and it doesnt matter how good is the guitar if you cant play

I have to agree with you, some people become so obsessed with getting the best guitar and some killer pickups and either get stuck with their $15 pedal or just spend more time reading about guitars than playing.

what do you guys think? i'm thinking of getting a strat...

alexi usually uses this one:

It doesn't matter which guitar you're using. If you love your sounds, why do you want to change your guitar for another that sounds more like someone else. Well for me that suck.

but if you want good guitar for not so much, see godin freeway EMG, Really really great guitar. so easy to play with godin guitar, and the sound is so powerful and amazing. They are not using shitty wood like LTD or ESP.

Guitar is very tasty! Someone like me is a freak and just love to have a guitar just like what Alexi has! But as a lot of they said it really does not matter what guitar you have!
AMP and PEDALs Are so much important as your guitar!

Meh, I'll answer this guys question seriosly cause I'm bored :D You can play bodom on any guitar, but if you wanna get a similar tone to them, go rack with a lee jackson gp-1000, or some kind of tube marshall like a JCM 2000/800. To me bodom have a very marshally sound. Also guitar it shouldn't matter what shape you get, as long as you get something with the same woods as they use. They use guitars with ebony fretboards, alder bodys, maple necks. A ESP or Edwards RV/SV, ESP MII or pretty much any other guitar with the same woods should nail a similar tone.

dude, just go fuckin buy the alexi sig, it should sound similar, unless you suck at shredding, i used to have the one with the scythe inlays, and it was a DREAM. but yeah, thats only if your loaded and can actually play, cause spending a shitload of money on a guitar you cant even play would suck nuts.

Guitars aren't designed for specific bands BTW

If you get a guitar that you think has a nice feel to it, then you will automatically play anything better regardless of what kind of music it is. My advice to you is to try out a whole fuckload of guitars and then make your decision based on that knowledge.
I was waiting for this. So true!
Guitars are suited more for genres. I'd go for something with EMG and a floyd, and 24 frets, the rest is up to you.

Well, basically any guitar with a humbucker in the bridge, 24 frets and a locking trem. Make sure if you do get a guitar with a locking tremolo that's it's not some lic. piece of shit. Either original Floyd Rose or some kind of Ibanez Edge (not Edge II or III though.) would be best IMO.
