best IRON MAIDEN cover

I've only heard the Call to Irons tribute, and the only song worth listening to was the Evoken cover.

Anthrax - Remember Tomorrow
Sebastian Bach - Children Of The Damned
Magnitude 9 - Flight Of Icarus

Being different sure doesn't mean being good. Sweet zombie jesus that's bad.
I'm downloading the song now but I must agree, I hate it when 'originality' is used as an excuse for sucking. Me and some mates had this debate awhile back about the Iron Maiden and Judas Priest covers of the 2CD version of Arch Enemy's Wages Of Sin. One guy said they rocked and we said they sucked cos they ruined the songs by making 'em death metal style, taking out all the bits that made 'em great in the first place. And other guy says Nah, that's Arch Enemy putting their style onto it, that's why the songs rock! And we says You've missed the point, by doing that they've ruined all the good parts of the songs. You take Marilyn Manson seriously so your opinion doesn't mean shit anyway :loco:

I'm not saying originality = good, I'm just saying I don't need to hear fucking note-by-note covers with the singer trying his best to sound like Bruce. That's just doomed to failure whereas a differently made cover will at least be interesting to hear.

Putting a twist into a cover song might have some novelty value, but nothing I would take seriously enough to buy. I don't own any Maiden tribute albums, although I've heard some covers. Opeth do "Strange World" alright I suppose, Iced Earth do "Transylvania" ok (just because it's identical), but most are excruciatingly bad.

For example, the worst cover ever has to be the Arch Enemy version of "Aces High". It is an abomination. Johann Livva needs to have his throat ripped out for the sake of mankind as we know it.

The Sculptured "Iron Maiden" cover should be heard by all. If nothing else, ya gotta give them credit for being original and doing something different.
Oh. my. god. On second thoughts, Arch Enemy's cover is a classic. :loco:

That Sculptured bit has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard in the world of Maiden (next to that old loony tune who did those Maiden songs by 'singing' all the pieces and ended up committing suicide). If you can get past the first tortourous 60 seconds, the song picks up enough to be ok, but then that fucking trumpet player coming in for the fills! Oh man, somebody shoot that git.

I'll give it one thing though, it had me laughing out loud.

Oh, is one of those Hallowed Be Thy Name? I used to have the techno version of that, so cool!

Man, that Sculptured cover really did suck!
