Best Live Band

tricky...cob wer fantastically great, as wer my dying bride lots of morbid energy, yet maiden really got me goin (really!) i jus got so pulled in by it all. 54...so much chemistry th band r def in my top 5, cof put on an amazing show, yet last time i saw them i get th impression they were tryin 2hard, need i go on? can't pik jus 1 :)

actually.........can't believe i 4got 2 mention SLAYER, it was a short set in a hot crowded lil stage but they put there all in2 deliverin a fuckin top performance! think alot of that was 2do wiv th years of meetin up2 my expectations and my god they did and more. maybe the best, but not sure

Hmmm, plenty of gigs ive enjoyed. but actual stage performance?

Rammstein without doubt. Metal, Industrial with dodgy apparatus and a socialist tinge from their east German roots.

Okay maybe that last bit appeals to me more than others, but anyone who abuses keyboardists the way they do gets my vote ;)

Several in there... can i pick more than one!! ive been to too many!

Ananthema At The kings head - October 2001. Brilliant!
Probably Pantera At Brixton in 2000. :( RIP Sir Dime
Mixed in with some Machine head at Brixton x2 gigs.
And clearly all 54 gigs ( which is in multiple tens!) - particularly July 6th 2000 ( my first that was the last with Adrian and featured TTNP!) And November 10th 2000 as was my first with Steve playing at the Ruskin. - Ahhh the memories indeed!

Area 54 - The Alm Inn, Bolton

The venue was far too far away, the band were horrendously late, and the headbanging space could be measured in inches.

But then they started to play.

It was like the reinvention of heavy metal that night, it was like Black Sabbath had just sat down and said "right let's turn this bastard up a few notches, it might sound alright."

There was no sound check. They guitars were plugged in, the bass was plugged in, Rob sat down at his kit, and Lakis turned on the microphone. And Area 54 proceeded to violently abuse me for the next 45 minutes. The sound was just so fucking raw, it was to some extent better than when their equipment is all tuned and tasty, because it had this dirty unprepared feel that just choked you to death with awesomeness. Then it all finished and I was left thinking holy fuck that was completely worth the wait! I've never seen them play faster or with more passion; they owed us a fantastic set and we sure as fuck got one!

And I've been waiting for a gig ever since! Apart from the charity all dayer at the rock bar, but the sound was almost unlistenable which was a real shame.

Also of note, last week's Megadeth at the Astoria, which was possibly the last Megadeth gig ever. Got there at just the right time methinks! I'm too young to know much Megadeth (poor excuse I know) but I damn well know who they are now! "This is me, this is my guitar, and this, is Holy Wars." I will always remember that moment.

And I can't forget seeing Blaze at the Bedford Esquires. I hadn't planned to go, but I thought why not, nothing better to do. And then I fell in love with metal all over again. And the rest is history! The Woughton centre in Milton Keynes was another great Blaze gig, they were supported by this little band a few of you might know. Area 51 or something like that, I don't really remember :D

me and slasher where at the gig at the alma inn it was a fucking awesome day out. after a drunken day and lots of headbanging we missed our train and ended up falling asleep in manchester train station and got woken up to been questioned by the police haha.

might get ribbed but one of the best gigs ive ever seen was europe last year

lol!! Europe were pretty cool actually! I landed up there because of a friend havin tickets, and i thought it would be pretty funky!

But the best for me, and i know im going to get slated for this but i dont care, it has to be Marilyn Manson, ive seen him quite a few times and hes never dissapointed!! :)

and also as many people have said every Area 54 gig - ive always come away from a gig happy! :)

megadeth nearly tops my list after th astoria, they filled th place wiv perfect melodic gnarrs n quips n th crowd were fuckin wkd. cheers2 th bloke who had me on his shoulders 4 th most part whoeva u wer!!
charlotte...mm really? managed 2c em 3times at various festivals n hav 2 say was totally disapointed, havin been a chronic fan at one point was expectin sumthing spectacular like on th las tour on earth album but big fat thumb down am afraid.
th best 54 gig 4me was probably blood stock, yet they neva fail 2impress n cant wait 2hear th nu stuff live....wel due a tour me thinks :Spin:

I dont like his festival performances, because he always looks rushed and stuff, the best had to be Nov 26th at Alexandra Palace - i queued for 9 or so hours and was at the front - and i was just blown away, tho one of the dancers did annoy the shit out of me, she looked like she was fitting!

Mastodon were amazing on Wednesday night, well worth seeing. Their guitar sound has to be heard live to be believed, it is a crushing demon! Check out the tracks Iron Tusk and Megalodon from the (2004) Leviathan album to start off, they are wicked cool!
