Best metal drummer

All I've seen was you down people.

Can you tell me who you think is a "good" drummer?

I put the good drummers in my first post. My top 5 metal drummers are:

Mike magnini
Thomas haake
Danny Carey
Gene hoglan
Morgan Agren (who actually isn't metal usually, but proved he is capable of being a totally kick ass metal drummer in my youtube on the first post. He is known for his work with zappa and in his own band.)

My favorite non-metal drummers are johnny rabb, bill bruford, ringo starr, carl palmer, phil collins, and others.

I did say I liked lopez and portnoy, but they just didn't blow me away like some drummers. That doesn't mean they aren't good. I really only "down"ed flo because your link showed a technically good but otherwise worthless solo. I don't care about blasting speed, it might as well be thumb-twiddling speed to me. Creativity and soul go way farther on impressing me.

(ps, I'm the fastest thumb twiddler in the world  )

I had to google his full name to pay my respects but, R.I.P.

Krzysztof "Docent" Raczkowski (AKA) Doc from Vader

I saw Vader live a few years ago, before his untimely death. Admittedly, I still know shit about most metal drummers, but what a fucking badass he was.

Next to him... Rick Allen, easily.

lopez isn't flashy, but if you listen carefully you will hear drumming that is tasteful, difficult, complex, and creative. It is very latin for a metal drummer. Plus, this is something I admire in all prog drummers, they can memorize a whole 20 minute song of constantly shifting and subtle beats. Back in marching band, I had to memorize 15 minutes of music, and it was hard enough, especially to get it right every time. Now, to memorize a whole CD full of 10-20 minute songs like that boggles my mind.

Okay, I get it. Thank you :)

GTFO, bitch!!!

well John Bonham is not a metal drumer but he started something in the 70s and that became in heavy metal a couple of years later and i think this guy was and still be the best drumer ever

^now this is the problem with kids these days, they hear something they like and immediately idolize band members. I'm not saying LOG sucks or anything but Adler is far from a god

Gene Hoglan (Various)
Derek Roddy (Various)
Lopez (Opeth)
Darek "Daray" Brzozowski (Vader)
Krzysztof "Doc/Docent" Raczkowski (Ex-Vader, R.I.P.)

I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I can think off the top of my head.

Muscle memory my friend. He created it, totally different from you learning a piece of music.

Very true. I guess it is much easier to play something if you create it yourself. Okay, point taken, but lopez still owns.

Black Core, didn't you use to idolize slipknot, or was that someone else?

I could care less that mike is the fastest in the world, because even if he wasn't, he would still own. I couldn't play some of his stuff even at half speed...
