Looking for snares options in the "reasonable" price range. I like cracky snares with tons of snap, so metal snares may be more useful for me. My options now are the Tama Tempesta and a Mapex The Machete ( both second hand market) but they are still expensive Any similar options soundwise that would cost less?
What are your favorites ?

Mapex Black Panthers are pretty wicked. My absolute favourite snare I have heard in a room was a Tama star classic Piccolo. It had the piccolo crack, but I could feel it thump in my knees. I imagine the drummer had more of a say in the overall sound since he is super heavy handed, but it blew my mind. And it was just in a garage. A second to that would be the trick black widow, but I think that may be out of your price range

If you like them cracky and snappy, a deep 13" is a great starting point.
