I went with Soto mainly because Marching Out is so damn good. I couldn't begin to count the number of times I heard this and Trilogy when I was younger.

I almost went with Soto as well, because the vocals in Marching Out sounded quite natural i.e. blended with the instruments quite well. However I prefer Mats Leven in general as a vocalist as he's one of my all time favourites, hence the bias.

yeah, well, Soto recorded the best Malmsteen songs ever, so my vote is for him too, but i like Vescera so much. the album Magnum Opus is very high.

I understand all the love for Soto, but Trilogy was my first taste of Yngwie and for some reason Boals, to me, is the best all time. Trilogy and Alchemy, need I say more. I also believe that Ripper needs some love to as both of the albums that he is represented on have some killer songs with good vocal lines as well as killer shredding.

Ah, no. While his performances with Iced Earth were pretty awesome, he simply didn't fit in with Yngwie at all. It was a head scratcher then, and is even more so today, in hindsight.

It was a tough decision. I like Soto, Vascera and Turner. I chose Joe Lynn Turner because it seems like JLT was able to eek a little more emotics out of YJM. Yngwie had really taken the neo-classical stuff pretty far on his first three. It was nice to get a change of pace from YM on Odyssee.
