Steve Vai is absolutely a Metal guitarist, along with many OTHER styles though. The guy can play friggin anything!

I've yet to hear Steve Vai make any attempt to play metal. It doesn't matter if he can play it, if he doesn't choose to then he's not a metal guitarist.

Steve Vai was in David Lee Roths band, Alcatrazz, and Whitesnake, in the 80's those bands were metal, Steve Vai isn't tr00 kvlt or anything but he is basically a hard rock/heavy metal guitar player.

Well it was metal, Heavy Metal isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you hear whitesnake but whitesnake is 80's heavy metal. I don't want anymore lies dammit, let me listen to my slip of the tongue cassete in peace.
