Normaly, I wouldn't post on something like this just because, But that sum 41 video pushed me over the top.

Slayer........I hope the go back to how they once were....:(

I don't understand why you put Amorphis up there but whatever...

They are all Sellouts (to put it in kiddies terms)

SLAYER!!! Although I do like their new stuff also...

Wow... you didn't put Metallica up there... wow... maybe the metal community has grown up a bit...

Machine Head are the only band on the list fitting for the term "sellout".Even though i do agree with FallingAcension with the Kerry and Sum 41 debacle, but at least they don't let it carry on into their music like Machine Head(job).Fuck i hate that band now.

I only put these up to see what people would think. I personally love ALL the above bands, and dont think they have one sellout bone in their body. Each band, however, does have some element which could raise suspicions, but to me, none outright sold out.

Machine Head: A little too much rapping came into the band on the Burning Red and after, and a lot of the riffs were "dumbed down" to (I wont say the genre) levels. Still a big fan though.

Slayer: My only bone of contention with them is the song Stain Of Mind. That was an unnecessary track. But hey, whatever.

CoF: Love 'em, or hate 'em. I love 'em. Theyre branded 'sellout' cuz they sell more records and make more money than most.

Amorphis: Amorphis was included cuz their style change was pretty drastic, even though it took a few albums to materialize. I personally love 'em.

In Flames: The topic of much flaming and savaging. IMHO there is nothing in R2R that screams sellout. Sure, it's different, and more commercial sounding than prior releases, but jesus fucking christ people, this isnt MTV bound or anything. I think its a great record, with much needed diversity. The entire thing isnt fucking radio friendly or something. Theyre progressing, and apparently unlike most that post here, I think that's a GOOD thing.

Dimmu Borgir: They took their BM influence, and went their own path with it. Kudos to them.

I'm not a big fan of the term "Sellout" either (unless it applies to Kiss of course, cuz nobody did it more blatantly), but I wanted to see what people out there thought. I've seen those names from time to time appear in posts relating to selling out, so I wanted to see opinions on who the biggest offender is.

No Metallica included, cuz that's a seriously tired subject. If I wouldve put that on the poll, that wouldve defeated the purpose, cuz 90% of the responders wouldve chose that.

As usual you're long winded as hell Vien, but I do agree with everything you said there. People spend waaaaay too much time trying to find bands that have "sold out"....What the hell is wrong with a band that attempts to integrate something new in their sound? If they made the same album over and over again I swear that would make some of these whiners happy! I however, can accept change and if I don't like the change a band has made in their sound I simply don't buy the album. I don't sit there and call them sellouts. The only band I can safely say I know for a fact has sold out would be Kiss. They have released a ridiculous amount of greatest hits/live albums without putting any new material out in what, about four years? That is a sellout, not trying to expand on your sound. Some of these people that spout this bullshit need to get a clue....

i wouldnt label any one them sellouts. cause rob flynn listens to rap music as well as metal so thats why he changed his vocal style. Cradle of filth never really sold out they just got more recognised as did dimmu borgir. and in flames decided to use more vocal melodies than guitar. i wudnt be surprised if any of these bands decided to go back to their roots.

As far as I know COF has sounded the way they do now since the beginning. Well, not that they haven't progressed (although I'm not really qualified to say this, as I think they SUCK!), but it's not like their music was completely different on their first album - at least not as far as I know.
