so the other night i was talking to a buddy at the bar:

me: do you want to go the Tool concert on the 6th?
b: yeah. who's opening?
me: Meshuggah
b: Big Sugar!?!
me: no Meshuggah
b: mesh-u-ggah? what do they sound like?
me: well name some bands you listen to
b: nine inch nails, etc. . .
me: riiiight. anyway, they're nothing like what you've heard before, but i can asure you...
b: but are they HARDCORE metal, i like ALL the metal groups as long as they're waaay hardcore...
me: ummmm..... sure... *get up to buy another pitcher. talk to some other friends. come back to his table an hour later*
b: i think it's kinda weird Big Sugar are opening for Tool.
me: @@$^@^#$#%#%&**$$%&*$*#%%&* ANTI-DEFENTORY

this same dude told me last week that in flames was his favourite band, because they're 'soooo hardcore,' at which point i tried to explain to him that hardcore and metal are two different things. apparently he has no idea what the gothenburg movement is, but somehow he's a huge IF fan. they're the only underground band he's ever heard, and he never bothered to check anything else out. i find this all both amusing and disturbung.

Good lord...yall are really abusing my Defeatory.

I got the Nothing cd recently. It was my first taste of Meshugga. Its ok. I dont see what everyone thinks is so special though, the vocals remind me of a cross between vocalist Spider(Powerman 5000), Dez (Coal Chamber) and average death vocals. But itll most definatley be listened to from time to time.

Yeah, it's a decent album, but nothing extra special. That must be why all the nu metal kids like it too... If it was too good it would be way over thier heads.

And the all black inside cover reaaaaally fuckin pissed me off! No lyrics, liner notes or anything. What a brilliant idea! Not even a fuckin tracklist except on the fuckin cd which is in the fuckin cd player so I cant see what the hell Im listening to!!!! I shouldve just dloaded the fucker if all they are gonna give to their fans is a fuckin pic on the front.

hmm.

most of my friends think slipknot's the best metal band out there. i wont argue with them. for they are metal virgins though it would be interesting to see them raped and sodomized by bands like dark tranquillity, opeth, and hypocrisy.

ahem, musically speaking of course

Nothing sucks fucking dog balls. Biggest dissapointment of the year.

I felt the same way at first. I would never go so far as to say that it's a great album, but it grew on me and may just do the same on you if you give it a chance. Straws Pulled At Random is quite a good song at least.

It's not quite the same as the older stuff. Takes a few listens, but turns out to be badass anyway. Straws Pulled at Random is my favorite song on there.

I read in Guitar World that those 8 String guitars they used are tuned to F fucking #!!! That is just retarded. I figured G was about as low as anyone could get. Sounds good though, for being tuned to F fucking #....
