Well well well! I'm intrigued to hear them - anyone know what they're actually like?
I actually heard that Mike said they were just a mediocre band - but he and Kiki Lindgren liked the name of the album.

yes, they said it's a mediocre band, Akerfeldt liked the name.

by the way... blackwater park backwards is: krap retawkcalb... um.. yeah.. interesting.

Actually, it's a German krautrock band from the early '70s.
Some time ago I read that also Still Life was inspired by a band. Anyone who knows, if that's true? Maybe that one?

blackwater park did one album. they were a progressive leaning hard rock band, and had a couple good tracks on that dirt box release. not essential, but for a prog completist, then id recommend it.

as for still life...there was a band which also did one self titled album in the early 70s on the vertigo label. ironically the cover featured a bunch of pink orchids, and the font is strangely akin to an opeth logo. speculation still ensues however, due to van der graaf also having an album titled still life, as well as the term itself being fairly common and normal in the world of art and music, so whos to say really.

Blackwater park was something I thought sounded cool and we even decided on the title before we started recorduing the album which is a first. You know how I collect records and all, BWP was one of those bands you "gots to have" and even though I like it it doesn't compare to Purple or Heep. I see one of you have Prof. Wolfff as your user thingie. Now that's a great album, I really like that one! The title "still life" was actually taken from the Vertigo band. That album looks fantastic, one of the best sleeves of the time. The music isn't all that great, but definately OK. Softer type of Heep kinda, with real vibrato style vocals that I find a bit tedious, but the sleeve....wow!!

Cheers + more prog talk!!!! Less polls and more prog fucking talk people!
