If memory serves me, somewhere in one of the boring books of the old testament, it spells out specifically that homosexuality is wrong. "man shall not lie with man" or something to that effect. It's in the law of moses. So, that's why the Christians believe it, not because of some off reference to birds. It has been about 5 years since I read it, though, so I might be wrong. Anyway, I think RIP50 is pulling a fast one on y'all. Nobody goes from atheist to that narrowminded of a beleiver so quickly. It takes time.
Also, the King James bible was translated earlier than 1880, so the 1880 bible could have been a newer interpretation (people keep trying to re-interpret the damn thing, and all of them add words and phrases and remove others. It's rather funny.). Or it could've been an older one, who knows. It's really a sham anyway, because the Catholic church just decided at one point which of all the books of scripture were to be included. I can definitely understand people believing in the scriptures, but I can't for the life of me understand how they believe in Catholicism. It totally ignores major commandments, like not praying to anyone but God (they pray to Mary and all the "saints"), and not worshipping idols (praying to statues, etc).
