Blind Guardian

You hit it spot on, I'd say. A Night At the Opera was a really good record, but A Twist in the Myth had nothing special about it. A few decent songs (that sounded like they could have come from Nightfall in Middle-earth or A Night At the Opera), but nothing remarkable.
all the old albums are good/great in some kind of way, but a Twist is basically crap.
Hopefully the next album is back to sounding like Blind Guardian

I like every Blind Guardian album except for the newest. I think A Night at the Opera gets alittle to much slack sometimes, sure it is over the top with layered vocals etc. but the songs are great imo.

Not sure why everyone says they are great live though? I've always thought they were pretty meh as a liveband. Especially the last time I saw them.

BTW, Somewhere Far Beyond ftw!

Why do they never play anything from Battalions Of Fear as I see it as there best album album and have no idea why they don't. Was looking forward to seeing them at Bloodstock but realised they don't play anything from that album, any reason why?

They play Majesty live. And thats probably the best song from the album. Otherwise that album is pretty different to how the band evolved. They're not really speed metal now are they?

I can imagine them playing stuff off Battalions would be awesome live. I mean, there are some great choruses in it.
