Blu-Ray or HD-DVD

T3 isn't even out on Blu-Ray. The T2 import on HD-DVD is also miles better than the Blu-ray.

i think the wonder of the HDTV image wears out after a few months ... and I personally refuse to watch stuff I normally don't (like crappy sports) just to marvel at the picture

The nature shows, are the only programming, that sucks me in because of the picture. Some of that stuff really comes to life in HD.

I'd agree that HD begins to lose it's "wow" factor after a few months. However, for the wife and I, it's yet to lose it completely.

Zod

What sucks is when your show or game or whatever is only broadcast in SD. I tried watching a hockey game last night in SD and it was total shit on my HDTV. I almost turned it off.

Yeah, why does regular TV look like absolute shit on HD units? That's reason enough for me to not buy one, there's still a ton of peon-DVD format shitz I don't want to just throw away.

Did I already do that Homer quote in this thread? I think so, but here it is again:

How come you guys can go to the moon, but you can’t make my shoes smell good?

I don't know. But it does. I didn't know this at first and when I hooked it up and turned it on to an SD channel (all I had at the time) I thought I had really fucked up.

I remember back when the SNES came out, a lot of kids couldn't get their parents to buy one because it didn't have backward compatibility, and it didn't make sense to me. Just hook up both units and be done with it, no big deal. Granted, I play PSX games on my PS2 all the time, but not out of need, just convenience.

But this, I mean come on. Inexcusable. Stupid god damn culture of disposability. Somebody educate me concerning this before I start yelling BULLSHIT! too loudly.

Well, I don't know the reason but I do know that SD stuff is being phased out. Can you even buy a SD TV anymore?

Did you know Bill Brasky is the godfather of my son?
Bill Brasky?
He's a big fella!
Oh yeah, he's a big guy! Goes about 6'7", 385.
Well, anyway.. he shows up at the church in his golf pants, caked in mud. Well, ol' Bill Brasky pushes the priest aside and says, "I'll baptize that piece of calimari!" Then he pours Scotch all over my baby son and says, "There! You're baptized!"
And your son is blind to this day!
Yeah, he makes brooms somewhere in Georgia, doesn't he?
I have no idea.

This shit pisses me off to know fucking God damn end. When standard television gets phased out for this hdtv cunt revelry, millions upon millions of Americans will be forced to either cough up a ridiculous sum of money for a hi-deaf tv(open up your ears to the nonsense in which this culture is spewing), or they will be forced to buy a nice fancy converter that will allow their 13 inch rabbit eared tube the capability of receiving hd. Ofcourse, none of the families on the lower end of the income spectrum will be able to pay for such nonsense, so the government will subsidize this endeavor with the tax payers pretty little penny, which holds as much worth as a breath being discharged from Susperia's trachea. What a fucking travesty this society has turned out to be.

its because HD sets have such great resolution that the shortcomings of SD are magnified.
