Blu-Ray or HD-DVD

but this "sucking" effect lasts for about 2 days ... then your eyes get adjusted.

i also have this theory that HD is really not that great ... but when you flip to it from an SD channel its like WHOA

Did you know Bill Brasky is the godfather of my son?
Bill Brasky?
He's a big fella!
Oh yeah, he's a big guy! Goes about 6'7", 385.
Well, anyway.. he shows up at the church in his golf pants, caked in mud. Well, ol' Bill Brasky pushes the priest aside and says, "I'll baptize that piece of calimari!" Then he pours Scotch all over my baby son and says, "There! You're baptized!"
And your son is blind to this day!
Yeah, he makes brooms somewhere in Georgia, doesn't he?
I have no idea.
hahahahahahahahhahahahahha

This shit pisses me off to know fucking God damn end. When standard television gets phased out for this hdtv cunt revelry, millions upon millions of Americans will be forced to either cough up a ridiculous sum of money for a hi-deaf tv...
I wouldn't worry about that just yet. First off, they keep delaying the phasing out of SD, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they do so again. Regardless, you won't have to lay out a ridiculous sum of money. Currently, a 32" HD LCD from Samsung, is $799. And the prices are continually dropping. By the time you're forced to buy a TV, chances are it will be time to replace your old set anyway and that an HDTV will cost $500.

Zod

$500? Fuck that shit! Whatever happened to television sets in the $179-$319 range? I'll continue to download my programming over the internet, thank ye very much. Consider HD to stand for heroically downloading!

you can get LCD's in the $250 range ... HDTV Sharp ... 19"

There are 32" LCD's aroudn for $450 also.

from what I hear most LCD's share a lot of common components, so "brands" are not as important as they used to be.

hahahahahahahahhahahahahha
Bill Brasky = greatest thing ever

hahhaa freakin' cool.

I think technology is rad, but seriously, fuck this. I think my favourite part of the HDTV commercials is when they show those simulated shots of the superior picture quality, and everyone is supposed to go "oooooohhhh!!!" and all I can think is "this is a regular television," so what's the god damn difference?

The logic of that sentence didn't come out right. I don't care. Television blows.

EDIT: I am such a grumpy old fart in this thread. :Spin:

Stupid question.... Is there a big difference between watching a Blue Ray and and HD DVD? Not the player, just the movie itself?

*shrugs*
Krig, why aren't they showing in HD? I have about 20 HD channels and sometimes the shows themselves aren't HD but the channel is. So there'll be some shows not filmed in HD and then shows that are. You can watch both on the HD channels but only SD on the rest of the channels. Does that make sense?

I called them and got it fixed. although It doesnt look as good as it should.. hmm.

do you have the box hooked up correctly to the TV?
I hate people that ask this question :loco:

LOL ... me too ...

but yeah, try to tool around with the settings a bit more to get the picture just right. if you look for forums that nerds discuss your particular model TV, you should have some optimal setting specs floating around there.

with large sets, it also depends how far back you sit from the set ...

haha yeah. I've was looking last night at settings and stuff. Those guys are just that... nerds!
Starwars VI is on HBOHD and it looks awesome!!!
and yeah, im only 8 feet away or so. lol

Krig, are the shows you're watching actually in HD? It's not Seinfeld or anything is it?
Try HDTheater or some shit. The difference between SD and HD is dramatic. I can't even watch SD anymore. It's terrible.

It's worth it.
Actually, j/k, cable's not worth it at all. I'll be cancelling as soon as my promo rate is up.

 ...

this damn hbo ondemand i recently got on the cable box is pretty damn cool ... I like that I can watch what i want at anytime for a few bucks.

they really should have these "instant" programming more widespread.
