BM bands on the rise . . . or not . . .

i think maybe all the classic status praise it got me ready to hear something truly phenomenal, sure to go down as an essential piece of extreme music. what i got was some well played tolerable post 2000 BM. I tried to like it and kenose.

thing is, im finding better releases from the 90s and before that i never got around to, and dont have time or money to waste on these flavors of the month

EDIT - @ JayK

I would mention a couple bands now, but they'll be my recommendations in the future.

But I will bitch and moan until everyone is listening to Master's Hammer, Root, and Amon Goeth.

so are you guys gonna recommend some good BM or not?

other than the stuff recommended to me recently . . . Demoncy, Abigor, Fluerety, Beherit

seriously, why arent you guys checking out Abigor, Fleurety, Demoncy, Havohej, Graveland, Sort Vokter.........

THere's a reason these are hailed as classics of the genre, and have survived the test of time. Not some flash in the pan.

NOTHING like the newer stuff. They used to be similar to a combination of early Ulver and very early Emperor. They have a strong heathen vibe, so my unfamiliarity with that sub-category probably doesn't do the description justice.
lawl.

Early Blut Aus Nord is so obviously a Burzum rip off it's not funny.

I don't know why'd I'd even take the time to respond to you, but you obviously don't listen to black metal if you make comments like that.

Germanic Paganism theme...check

Varg scream like vocals...check

Ambient Keyboard interludes...check

Simple riffs...check.

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss like album cover...check

One man band...check

Don't get me wrong, I love Ultima Thulée, but you're kidding yourself if you can't see that it's basically a Burzum wannabe crossed with 80's pop like Killing Joke.

ps. The Work Which Transforms God is amusing for like 3 minutes into Choir Of The Dead, then it becomes as boring as shit.

I'm not as familar with the other two tbh, mostly cause I've heard they suck...or at least one of them.

I just like it how Nate, a nu-black metal fan and for some reason a reviewer on this site, says I'm not familar with the genre. lawl.

 I remember hearing quite a few of those when they originally came out... they were rather forgettable though.
