Bombing in Boston today, two dead, at least 20 injured.

Now we have to deal with how he wasn't read is miranda rights, and how he has already had a "trial by media"

They are using what is termed a "Public Safety" exemption to Miranda. It allows the waiving of Miranda rights for a period of time while you question someone in custody as to possible other safety threats to the public. The questions asked are to be considered non-interrogational in nature. Particularly since 9/11 the courts will give leeway as to how long you can questions a suspect until they will have to Mirandize them - typically about 48 hours plus or minus.

Completely legal in cases of terrorism, in particular..

USA really have strange people. Now the people are coming out to the street to celebrate and screaming out loud their happiness because they were caught?

Let me explain, of course it´s a good feeling knowing that those bastards got caught and wont do something similar again but man, celebrating and screaming in the streets? Seems really akward. People died in those attacks.

Similar feelings here, it's very strange to me.

The entire city was on lockdown for 24 hours because a crazy guy who blew up an 8-year-old (and killed two other people) was running around. Pretty sure they're allowed to be happy he was caught.

This! The fact that the greater Boston area was on lockdown, the bombings and deaths caused by the individuals, most people being stuck in their houses across two days being scared to death can at least celebrate the police force that brought the fuckers to justice.

Besides, we Americans don't find you Euros strange for starting riots, destroying property and sometimes even resulting in death when your soccer team (I'm sorry, football) doesn't win a game. Okay, actually we do think that is weird but that is beside my point. Point is different cultures are well, different duh! You may not understand everything we do and like wise, we don't understand everything your cultures do. I did find some of the celebratory reactions a little...odd, but then again there are weird people everywhere, its not just an "American" thing.

Not defending America at all because I think we really suck but I've seen all kinds of people in group settings celebrating all kinds of shit all over the world. I think celebrating in general is strange as I do dancing when not done professionally. I also don't get people who can not be alone, fucking strange if you ask me but I get it on a biological level. Hell the fact that most of you guys choose to mix metal for a living is beyond me. My point is, we all think something or another is strange.

I love that David Ortiz is back in the lineup of the Boston Red Sox - he took to the mic in the emotional opening ceremonies today to remind people that "This is our fucking city!"

You go David!

A little defensive? We all have our weirdos, I don't think anyone would suggest otherwise.

Having said that, I'll take a slightly odd enthusiastic celebration over being hit over the head with a bottle by a drunken millwall fan any day!

I was being mildly sarcastic in my post but my point stands, I have been fed up with condescending ignorant making sweeping stereotypical statements. It comes off as just being rude, ignorant and the condescending "parent to children" like scoffs as if somehow that person's ideology is superior is infuriating. I have been really fed up with a lot of statements on the political front which recently stemmed over to nationality stereotypes with all the negative attention America has been getting lately. What some people don't realize is that there are dumb or weird people on both sides of every coin, politically, nationally etc. If me getting angered at said ignorance and sometimes feel the need to say something about it makes me eccentric, then so be it.

Just to hop back into this thread:

I have to say it was pretty deplorable how some dickhead news commentators were practically WISHING for right wing white domestic terrorists.

Moore blamed the tea party.
Chris matthews said domestic terrorists tend to be on the far right.
Lawrence Odonnel (MSNBC) blamed the NRA for helping the bombers get away.
Peter Bergen (CNN analyst) speculated bombs were right wing extremists.
Couple other idiots said things like "hope the bomber is white" and "blah blah blah bomb is a good reason to get rid of the second ammendment."

Another news lady tweeted she felt sorry for the 19 year old.

Fuck the media. Fuck the media right in it's stupid fucking face.

Also: lol conspiracy. Why can't a shitty situation just be a shitty situation.

Just goes to show that for all the lefts moral superiority complex, they're just as shitty minded as the right can be. When will people wake up to individualism...?
