I´m very happy with my choice of monitors. I was first thinking of buying the Adam A7 monitors, but changed my mind. I bought my self a pair of Genelec 8040A. Now i just have to get used to how they sound.

Got a pair of those in the studio. Very nice! So many people ask me if I have a sub connected somewhere!
Had to play around with the dips in the back to make a balanced sound out of them (for our ears/room).
IIRC, we settled for a -2 on the HF and desktop control on. Might have to do some more measurements at some point..

If I ever update from these, I think I'd have to go Barefoot..

Congrats. Play around with the dip switches behind. Chances are you'll need to adjust the the bass tilt.

I love the 8040's stereo imaging.

Nitsju: yeah, i have tilted the bass respons to -2 and desktop to -2. i´m doing testmixes now to see how they sound like in the stereo.

I have to disagree. That's not what my ears are telling me, and I've watched in person how these monitors are tested before they're packed, and the +-2db threshold is indeed accurate

Definitely adjust the low-end. These things are very bass heavy in my experience; great for listening, and great for composition. But personally, I found our KRK's a bit clearer for mixing.

Actually is the opposite, at least on my tiny 8020's, so little with a shitload of mids
