bounced a track with trigger - does not align with original track!

hey folks

first off, i'm working in reaper.

all of a sudden i noticed that every plugin that introduces additional delay, not only trigger, will not line up with the original copy of that track if bounced.

i made a comparison with two of the same files. one has no effects on it and the other one has an effect on it that introduces latency.

i rendered the file that has effects on it and compared it with the original file that has no effects on it.

surprisingly, i can clearly see that the rendered file with effects on it has been delayed.

it shouldn't be like that right?

the problem is for example if i have two tracks of the same snare and one has trigger on it and i play both of them, i head flamming because of the latency trigger introduces.

this is how i discovered the problem in the first place which led me to test this behavior by bouning the track with trigger on it and see if it aligns with the original track.

i hope you can help me.

thanks for your help.

did you make sure your attack and release were set properly?

I had a similar issue with "flamming" a little while back on my triggered snare....realized my attack and release settings were all screwed up by...default?

It could be your buffer size, and it could be the ADC(automatic delay compensation) in Reaper that isn't working properly. Try setting your buffer size to something big and see, if the problem persists.

well, i'm on windows xp 32bit and right now i'm away from my main computer and will be until friday. the computer i'm working with right now doesn't seem to have the problem. i'll report back.

btw: where are the settings for the automatic delay compensation or PDC (plugin delay compensation - is it actually the same?) in reaper?
under "audio->buffering"?

thanks so far.

cool latest 3.73, was using 3.72.
maybe a fresh installation will help.
let's see on friday.

let me ask you something:

take a snare track, duplicate it, put trigger on it, trigger a sample, bounce this track and reimport
does the bounced track line up with the original track that doesn't have trigger on it?

because that's the problem i have.

thanks

ok, i made a picture.

the first track is the orginal snare sample.

the second track is that snare sample triggered with drumagog 5 and it lines up perfectly, even the volume is pretty identical. i didn't even have to adjust any parameter in drumagog. i just loaded the sample and it worked

the third track is, again, the same snare sample triggered with trigger 1.64 and it doesnt line up nor is it the same in volume. i played around with the sensitivity and the detail knob but all it did was change the amount by which the sample was delayed in comparison to the original track by just a few miliseconds. i didn't include those files but still, it just never lined up.

i even updated reaper and tried reinstalling trigger but it didn't help.
the problem seems to pertain to trigger only.

can anybody help me?

thanks

ive been noticing the exact same problem... julian i even talked to you about this a few months ago when i was first trying out reaper.... it seems to be a problem with trigger itself...since i can replicate the issue with logic aswell...and it seems ONLY trigger does it. i at first thought a few PSP plugins did too but ive only had problems with trigger as it turns out. in logic the issue occurs even when i do a simple "merge regions" on say, the kick track. ill have to go back and nudge my first hit back. i wondor if trigger isnt reporting its latency back to the host...or we both just have messed up systems? either way its a very very very annoying glitch. if it happened all the time it would be fine, like old protools with no PDC. but the random thing... thats gotta go. someone else in another daw should try a bounce test to see if they can make it happen too

Same problem with logic9 :(

Had to print the triggers to save some CPU and after cleaning some misstriggers I noticed flams.

The shit thing is:
Trigger sometimes stays in phase and then it delays.....
Was a pain in the ass to allign all kicks and snares by hand for a 5 track ep

im having a hard time figuring out the criteria for the delayed track to happen. sometimes ill merge audio together, logic will even bounce a new track (not just glue regions) and everything will be in sync, just randomly this happens! should we tell someone from SSD about this issue?

I'm pretty sure this is normal? Once you slide back one sample to match, the rest should be dead-on, as well.

Shouldn't have to do that if the plugin is reporting it's latency correctly.

apTrigga is still the most accurate out there for me, it's just fucking unfortunate that it doesn't properly support multisampled hits in any sort of organized preset system (TCI files, GOGs, etc.) I just suck it up and use Trigger because it is very feature rich and easy to get creative with.

^^seeing that most of you guys says Aptrigga is still the most accurate, my question is - do you guys print your tracks using Aptrigga and allign them with original files, or do you use in on channel inserts?

I usually print mine to a separate track so i can visually compare the original and make sure there are no mistriggers.

Print and align after. So easy with aptrigga (only 2 mouse clic).
But in fact I print everything:lol:
