I would have liked to have heard the aborted "Smile" album as originally intended, before he ran amok in the studio.

some of the later stuff like "Wildhoney" and "Surf's Up" is pretty great, too.

that was a time of creativity, fa sure.

another awesome album from the same era is Love's Forever Changes.
one of the few integrated bands at the time, Arthur Lee wrote music that is so unique, and the band featured the now deceased Bryan MacLean (brother of Maria McKee, and a decent songwriter himself). Rhino has also put out a superb greatest CD.

when i was growing up, i had no curfew, was never grounded, wasn't even ever yelled at (even for smoking at age 7)... but but but... my dad caught my sister and i listening to the beach boys and locked us in our room and burned the records.
