British accents give Strokes women

Are The Strokes any good? Some of my friends like them but their taste in music is sorta questionable.

out of their 20 or 25 songs spread out among 2 albums, there's like 4-6 good ones. the problem is, the bad ones all sound kind of like the good ones, so it's hard to pick 'em out.

basically, unless you are an image-conscious indie scenester kid, there are far worse bands than the Strokes.

yeah, they have some good stuff and some not-so-good stuff. neither are bands you should be ashamed to like individual songs from (at least), in my opinion.

THe first two White Stripes albums are excellent in my opinion, if you like that sort of thing. The rest lost some of its urgency...

JSBX are much better in my opinion though. I have almost all their release and they definitly tower over any of the other two mentionned here.

I thought Jack White was named the 17th best guitarist of all time in Rolling Stone? This is the subject of many, many jokes with my musician friends. Especially since Eddie Van Halen didn't make the top 50!

To me, it seems like saying "Emperor are too complicated!" or "Khanate are too slow!"

My implication was that she was saying that they sound like the Strokes, or another "full band". Theres a significant difference between saying "They sound like a full band" and "They sound like a two piece with backing tracks".

Is it wrong to feel bored after listening to anything with a normal time signature or a pop hook after approxaimtely 3-4 minutes? I've never bought into the idea of simplicity and sloppiness being something to aspire to.
