Britney Spears

I just finally saw(what I could stand of) Britney Spears' HBO concert special. She is very talented. Her vocals and songwriting ability were showcased in full force and those two were looking very good. :p

It must be nice to be a complete moron and make millions and never have to work again. :err:

calm down motherfuckers. i realize that there are "real" goths too. goths that arent fake and are cool. i said that. im just expressing my feelings towards the ones i usually meet who are FAKE. lets just end this discussion.

As i said to Morningrise try to be more clear next time. What you are refering to is understandable and we could debate on that, however you made it sound like you have it against all goth persons, maybe you dont thats for you to state and for me to disbelief and ignore, but that would have been less upseting.

utilitarianism is the way for me...
Lifestyle dictates that I wear clothes that are functional (durable, light-weight, quick drying) My idea of fashion is clothes that don't show stains if I can't wash them. If you haven't worn it into rags, you can still wear it some more.
If clothes come as a gift, great. If you must actually waste money on a thing like clothes, buy the cheapest and most functional clothing you can find. You could be spending that money doing something worthwhile.....

You're listening to Ani DiFranco. What's wrong with you?

As do I, but it leaves me broke after I go on a shopping spree..

There aren't alot of places to buy good Medieval stuff around here. I have to wait for the Renn Faires to come around. By then I have plenty saved. I have a special fund for it :D

There are some alright shops here, but you have to look really hard for nice, well made things. I actually sew alot of my own clothes because I can alter them to be whatever I want them too be.. :)
I've seen some nice stuff on the internet but I would never buy from oversea's because I am scared of the quality in which the clothes would be! Plus they are all $100 over priced!

I want a sword to start my powermetal project, maybe i could find it on these stores?

I could help you out with this, if you like..?

I actually read somewhere that as part of Britney's concert, she actual has a shower on stage in her underwear.

I mean, come on... I'd buy a fucking ticket to see that....

About Goths: I only really know two full on goths and both of them didn't have a clue about gothic, gothic metal, black metal etc music. I thought Goths dressed that way because of music or a scene or something.

I remember one guy I met a few years ago. This guy was a total goth ie cane, tie, black this and that, fancy everything else. I asked what music he likes, expecting My Dying Bride or some such, and he replies 'Roots' by Sepultura cause it's really heavy....

So I think, well dude, just wear jeans and a t-shirt, save yourself some money.

Sure would.

Which raises an interesting question. I'm a big fan of black metal, and I don't dress any differently to eveyone else (apart from avoiding brands etc).

Sometimes I walk around wondering who else I see on the street that is into the stuff I am. I mean, most of us melt into the crowd....

Maybe all Opeth fans should be forced to wear a green hat or something??:D

At least we'd recognise each other on the street ;)

I have thought this very same thing. I spent a year at U of Wisconsin and found NO ONE whom I could stand, and yet, with 42,000 students -- christ! there HAD to have been SOMEONE like me!!!!!!! I wished everyone would wear a sign with their interests written on it. :loco:

Which led me to have a (rather obvious) revelation: The people whom I would like are NOT obnoxious or cliquey. Their personality wouldn't be instantly known just from the clothing they wore and the people they hung out with (as is the case with 98% of the population, it seems). And yet, THESE people who blend in are the ones I would like...and we'll just never meet each other! Makes me very upset.

Since I'm in a totally different generation - I have a totally different perspective. It seems usually by my ripe old age, fashion is a non-issue. My surroundings are not thousands of people my age like in college - it's my small work environment of around 40 people. The partners or managers (of which I am one) I don't relate to, just because of who I am. I hate how partenrs hang with partenrs, managers with managers or partners, etc. Staff people don't hang woth anyone other than staff - I think that sucks.

I usually relate more to my kids generation because of my musical tastes, and again, just the way I am. But in this politically correct world - if I was hanging around with kids, I would either be a pervert or some other stupid title. In my small work environment - no one is like me. They listen to shit music, and just don't have a personality that even comes close to clicking with mine (except one of the secretarys who is around my age - we joke to the limit ).

I agree with Lina - since I can't "spot" someone like me - I'll just pass them by because there isn't a neon sign blinking "I'm Just Like You".

Thank goodness my wife and I found each other - even though our tastes are different, and I realize there is no such thing as that "perfect" match in every way - I have at least found "the one".
