I'm very noob when it comes to mic, I'm a hardcore Amp Sim user, I don't have much experience in miking, need some help and opinions + techniques on this =(

Yelp =S

thats a really weird tone you got there man, is that how it sounded in person?

Yea...I personally don't really like the sound, it may because of my poor miking techniques... =( I've ordered two dynamic mics, Audix-i5 and SM57, I believe it gonna sound much more accurate and better.

In this video, I use wharfedale 4.0s which is horrible, and a condenser mic SE-X1 that is not suitable in miking aggressive riffing... =S

If you can share your miking tecniques, mic placement and some clip..it would be great to share with! ^^

I'm trying to get good placement with less phase...getting just nice low end, bottom, pleasant mids, and very smooth highs :D

Yaaa...I did... I don't know which placement, combination sounds good...I just try and error...and when it blends together it started to sound fuller..but frequency doesn't sound pleasant....I did put some extereme EQ tweaking, wait let me share one link.

I really like the combination of center/rear....but I believe it must be something with tweaking on the amp it self before capturing it.

My EQ setup on Bugera 333XL : No stomp/TS, ---> Direct into crunch channel ----> Volume at 9 o'clock, Treble at 2', mids at 10', bass at 11'....gain about 2'clock. Master at 10, presence maximum.... is this gonna be a right setting for a normal EQ setup? Sorry for the stupid question..I'm sucks at doing real thing, because I was a hardcore Amp Sim user...when it comes to real thing, it doesn't work the same...I want to avoid alot of using plugins eq to repair the source....which means fail =( I'm trying to minimize on repairing source, I would be very happy by just using hi/lo pass filter that would be enough, and some cuts if necessary...I'm having trouble in capturing good source =(

Zero everything on the amp, set the tone controls at 12 o clock and tweak (LIGHTLY) from there, You shouldn't need to be doing any extreme eqing if the sound is good to begin with. Usually just a Hi pass and low pass filter and mad a few notches to get out the rings and mud

Thanks for the tips man! by the way, I'm using a 4x12 Bugera Cab...which is big =X, what master level should I set ? My room can handle the most at
11 o'clock which is very loud for a small treated room =X

to be honest you should be able to a good tone even at a low volume, I only really crank my orange for the final thing, but even then there's not a huge difference, just more saturation and sustain

I personally love the "strange" guitar tone. It's got a lot of bite, and you can hear the attack on the strings.

Why change it? Do you want a more 'generic' tone?

+1, hurm I heard that there's solution to get a good tone at lower volume, using a power break, crank up the master volume and set the power break output at lower volume, and the character of the amp getting more accurate. Is that true? =S I have one Dual Terror, just bought it last week, do you change the tubes inside the Orange? By the way thanks for sharing :D come share some of your Orange clips, let us hear how it screams >:)

Hahah...really? hurm, I just not confident with the tone, because the Bugera sound quite different when listen to the cab itself. The character is there, just the colour bit strange lol. I gotta wait for my new mics, I want a darker tones and much more deep so I don't have much troubles tweaking drums to blend them hehe.

Dude!!! that 2nd clip I've heard somewhere in youtube! I believe you must be the guy! I really adore the sound in that clip! it got the "attitude" sounding. Thanks for sharing!
