Hi Jason, thanks for your email. No offence taken at all. And, I’m glad you highlighted my biggest challenge in doing this. Like you said … I simply don’t have the time in the day to be the best guitarist out there. PLUS … if I was allowed to play copyrighted music – it would be that much easier on me ,but YouTube can pull my videos down, which would be very problematic for me. So, each and every time the camera is rolling .. it has to be 100% my stuff … and frankly speaking – it’s quite the task. That coupled w/ a full time job, 3 kids, and a very understanding wife … it simply is what it is. As the old Cub Scout motto … I do the best I can do, and genuinely try to share w/ the community my access to gear. Trust me – If I didn’t enjoy it, I’d stop, but I really do like cutting the videos.
As for your note on re-amping … I’m not really sure how that would work. Let me understand … I get some metal guy to play some metal riffs, then replay that back through my gear? I guess the questions that come to mind are : Who are those producing the metal riffs, … now I’m back into ownership / copyright issues if it’s not my own work, and frankly speaking – it takes my .02 out of the mix … the dynamic of playing. I may not be the best guitarist out there – trust me, I know that … but I do know how this stuff works … so in all of my videos, I truly try to tell a story. Whereas lots of other folks out there depend on solely the ‘tone test’ … I focus on a good story (mojo) and the tone. I do get lots of positive comments that my videos are entertaining … and if nothing else, if the viewer’s walk away with some valuable information, I am satisfied. [/COLOR]
Anyway, I ramble as much in type as I do in the videos, but I do appreciate your reaching out. I always welcome the constructive criticism!
Have a great holiday season!
