To me they sound really close at first but the Prime just sounds better transient-wise. Almost as good as the API-2500 plugin...

I dunno... I've been GASing for hardware comps for a long time but these comparisons never impress me enough to actually buy one.

Yeah there's hardly a difference. Pretty silly to dish out that amount of cash for something that sounds a hair "different"

you can say this for any nice piece of gear (mics/pres/outboard/amps etc) but when you start stacking them on top of one another in a mix, that extra 5-10% of "better quality" really starts to add up
