..Seen a couple threads that said it was 5150?? Sounds ALOT thicker
than my, or any other 5150 ive ever heard. Must be like 10 tracks each side or something??

I get a really heavy tone but its not that thick on single
note palmed riffs.. How the hell do you achieve such a heavy
tone??

im trying to get as close as possible both recording and live...
Should I buy another amp to run with the 5150? Another 5150?

The tone is just completely THICK. Wonder if its boosted.

yeah guitars are pretty good, but you can definately tell the overall mix is not as good as what Andy did on the previous two albums.:erk:

Im interested in the guitar tone.
One of the heaviest ive ever heard.

Single notes sound thicker than most
chords on other albums.

It's not a contest. I thought Adam D did a great job on the awakening.

Adam's been cranking out reeeaaallly thick guitar tones lately. (Caliban, Parkway Drive). I don't know what he's doing, but it's great.

To my ears it sounds like a lot of Engl's
Usually the first assumption on these tones for some reason.
Its not engl from what I understand.

Definatly... Thats the only word I can think to describe it, fuckin THICK. Like I said his single note riffs/triplets sound bigger than most peoples palmed chords.

I also think the awakening seems to have more gain on top of the tone too.
Damn somebody needs to hook this info UP! :u-huh:

well adam probably threw in some framus, mesa and a 5150II on there, as far as i know caliban use engls but could be trying something different in the studio so i just posted up what adam d uses alot when he records

Probably not. Their last album before awakening was like
jcm800 and 5150. SOunded really engl, And they had engl's
in a music video I seen beloved or hatred or something.
But so far it seems they dont use engl to record their records.

Im sure 5150 was on it. But i hear no mesa in that tone. And why
would you say 5150II specifically. I could beleive the framus cobra
could be close to that as well though. Whatever it is there is
definatly more gain on the recorded guitar tone i think.

I can probably get closer to the tone if I switch out the bad monkey
for a maxon 808 clean boost and give it a little more gain on the lead channel
of the 5150. With the boost I run gain around 4.

May end up buying another 5150 to run I dont know. But I Definatly
want to get into that thickness range... As good as my setup sounds
now maybe a couple of the same would get it there.:u-huh:

Well.. it really does sound like an Engl to my ears.. but...

Either Adam D. has played with reamping or it's a 5150 + Marshall :zombie::ill::u-huh::hypno::Smokin::u-huh::zombie::ill:

I fuckin marshall jcm 800 gets that heavy? Hm. I wonder if they were
boosted too. Also notice the 5150 isnt plugged in so must be doing
the marshall tracking in the picture... Thinking about it I might try a mode 4 with the 5150..
Since hatebreed got a great tone out of it on rise of brutality. Of course
that was with a dsl100 as well but i think a mode 4 tuned right and boosted
with a 5150 in stereo would sound pretty good :u-huh: Im trying to
see those 5150 settings... Looks like lead gain is at like 8, I assume thats the channel
he uses since its the one engaged... bass is around 6-7 and mid
is a little less than the bass.....Cant see the rest, actually one knob on the
left is missing, so the bass is maxed, the mids are at abotu 7 and the highs are at like 6. ............

Ugghh, fucking mosh caps and baby blue t-shirts  I like that big black exercise ball though.
hate the caps.I like the shirt though. I finally bought a red shirt with some
cool skull designs on it and it was a nice break from all the black shirts. :Smug:

Hello,

I was the enegeneer on this record.
We used the tuned plexi and the 5150, but adam reamped everyting with a mesa and a framus, but donßt ask me which one ... i think it was a corbra... but i´m not sure....

we also used the ts 9 and a BBE sonic maximizer..

cheers

lars

awesome, thanks a lot!

where did you use the BBE in the signal chain? do you by any chance know if it was used in the final mix as well and what mics adam used for reamping?

very, VERY nice work indeed!

cheers,
rob

No Idea, He did it in his own studio.

we used a KSM 32. and a old marshall speaker w greenbacks.

cheers

awesome, did you use the 482i Sonic Maximizer?
I'm looking for one myself; like it a lot during mixing/mastering!

Liez. :u-huh:
But really, I can definatly hear cobra like tones in the mix.You probably dont know which mesa either. Ts-9 as a clean boost out front? Why do people record with an amp then re amp, Why not just record with the 2nd amps the first time? How many tracks was recorded?

I may try some greenbacks in an x pattern with my g12t75s in the marshall jcm 900 cab

We used he BBE in the Fx chain of the amp.
Of what amp, Both amps? What BBE was it, Got any settings?

Any other info you might be able to provide on maybe getting
close to this kind of thickness in a live setup?
