That's it..great show? Was Sam sober? did Vadim played that Nintendo thingy on his keyboard? Could you tell us a little more please..

Sure, I wasn't sure if anyone here would care so I didn't go into detail.

The show started with the lights going down and then Slayer's REIGN IN BLOOD playing over the PA. They had the MP3 Player (from the album cover) on stage that did the countdown until DragonForce hit the stage.

They played a good mix of material from all three albums. The material from the new album came off a lot more powerful live than on disc. Operation Ground and Pound was esp great live.

As usual, they performed all the antics of a DF show. Lots of goofing around and competing solos. There was the keyboard solo where at the end he whipped out the "keytar" and used it like a Nintendo Gun with all the sound effects.

Not sure if Sam was drunk, but he kept giving Herman shit all throughout the set, making many derrogatory remarks about his Chinese origin (I think you can figure out what slang words were used!)

It was a VERY young crowd. I only saw a few familiar faces from the Chicago metal scene.

i have to go with the popular vote here and say they are pretty gay, good musicians i guess, but to me they sound like power metal meets hard core with some just, cheezy ideas.

sorry, hope i didn't offend the one fan of theirs lol.
I do however appreciate the diversity among the ND fans. Cheers!

I take it by "their one fan" you were referring to me.
And no, I am not offended.
I have no idea what material you heard of theirs that even remotely sounded like hardcore!

Count me as #2! Now that they're more mainstream, it seems like you almost have to apologize for being a fan. All I know is that anytime I hear a couple of Dragonforce tunes, I feel a little better than I did before. So there :p

So, why wouldn't you be happy for them if you're a fan and they go mainstream? If you like their music what should it matter, as long as they kick ass. I'm not the biggest DF fan, but why hate them because they made a business move in their favor? Isn't that somewhat a dream for everyone? To be famous? It may be on different levels, but I'm sure most of the people here would love to entertain people for a living.

ha ha, The 1 fan thing was a joke man, just saying that on this bands forum, they are far and few. as for the hardcore elements, well, this is a very loose term, but if you listen to older hardcore bands structure wise/drum wise...there you will hear it if you are looking for it I guess. I am talking the old school hardcore not the new gay shit man. :loco:

I am extremely familiar with old school hard-core (esp the 80's US stuff like 7 Seconds, Government Issue, etcc..) As I said before though, I have no clue what you hear in their music that has any HC elements, but whatever.

They are flower metal perfected through and through.

If you hate that genre, then DragonForce are going to be an easy target.

Just like non-black metal fans ragged all over Dummy Burger when they got popular. They are an easy sell-out target, esp if you didn't give a rat's ass about them before.

I like VERY limited BM. I never really considered ENSLAVED to be black metal in the sense that most people think of black metal. Way more talented than your average metal band.

Now how come I can appreciate some of "your" guy's music, but you can't appreciate Nintendo video game metal such as DragonForce?
