CD's you thought...

I have a hard time plunking down the cake for new albums ever since I was on strike last year. Shit, I don't like to spend money on anything anymore. Guess I realized how little I actually need in life. Having said that, I just ordered the new Novembers Doom, the new live Lucinda Williams, and Mars Volta's latest.

A rare splurge.

I thought Id grow out of Pain of Salvation, because I spin their albums SOOOO much when Im not on some other binge, but everytime I play them I love them more than ever. Also, some real classic prog bands like Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Nektar, I thought Id burn out but haven't (so much to their discographies).

Sadly, Opeth hasn't been played at all anywhere for me for a few months now, along with most of my other favorite metal bands. Im just slowly mellowing out, though Nile gets a lot of listening from me still.

All of you guys are talkin like forever about how much you matured from your opeth-fanboyness and rarely spin the cds nowadays. I'd rather say I'd listen them to a temporary death, I haven't "grown out" of them, and I think it applies to a lot of you guys, but that's my 5 cents.

As for bands I thought I'd tire of but didn't: Iron Maiden, The Doors, Jmi Hendrix Experience, Black Sabbath - They all rule imensley

Bands I grew tired of (I consider most of the really good bands still though): At the Gates, The Haunted, Metallica, In Flames, Sepultura, Entombed, Slayer, and yes, opeth cds have been spinning rarely lately, but that's because of heavy usage.

I have not grown out of anything I have ever listened to, my tastes have just broadened as I have been exposed to more great music.

There is not a single CD that I have bought for myself that I am ashamed of.

i actually thought i'd grow out of sevendust. but they stuck. :tickled: i still really like em.

like Alex, i'd say i just like MORE stuff now than before, instead of liking different stuff.

I just started listening to Blackwater Park again, after a long drought. I never thought I'd enjoy listening to it as much now as I used to back then. I guess in short term, Opeth isn't "timeless", but in the long run they are.

just what i was thinking, i didnt listen to still life or bwp for aaaages, then came back to it, and it blew me away, and reminded me why i rate Opeth so highly, those moments are what makes music fantastic

Recently chucked on Meshuggah - Destory, Erase, Improve after a looong spell of not paying Meshuggah any attention. Damn, Future Breed Machine is such a bloody amazing track i almost slapped myself for ignoring it.

I used to listen Iron Maiden,Metallica,Dream Theater back then(Espcially Iron Maiden).I never bored listening to Maiden or any other metal bands but id grown out of-Nirvana:)
But now,I usually listen just Death metal and grindcore bands.

haha! i was kidding. No Doubt were (and are?) incredibly bad. however, *all* my friends in the mid-90s listened to them
hahah well I was one of those dumbasses who liked them in the mid-90's :p (but of course I was 13-ish at the time).
I listened to one of the CDs a few months ago and thought I wouldn't like it anymore but it wasn't so bad. I think they were pretty decent for a mainstream rock band... although later they went after the whole hiphop trend and turned to shit.
here's to admitting you still like crappy poprock music! :kickass: :Spin:
