Cheers and Jeers 2014

But you'd have to have the stars perfectly aligned to not miss at least part of the next band's set - catching all of the traffic lights right, no line at the restaurant, and food comes up in 2 minutes or less. Oh, and you'd have to scarf it in about 3 bites. That's why I think that being able to bring food in would be a great option.

Exactly. It's a little too much of a hassle. I don't like the idea of risking it. More food in the venue for sale or letting us bring in a sandwich or something would be great.

Yeah, I know its Mat, not Matt! Anyway, I am a big Sinner and Primal Fear fan, plus love Hard Rock, so VC is right up my alley, but when I went to take a pic with Mat in the lobby, when no one else was around, and had to take it twice because of flash issues, he said to the lady taking the pic, which was with him, that he came to enjoy the fest, probably meaning, judging by his attitude, that he did not want to be there taking a pic with me. He maybe forgets the reason he does what he does is because of the fans. At signing he wasnt even looking up, just on automatic! He did smile and looked at me when I said thanks, but that pic attitude put me off. I guess he could learn from Ralf, which I always see smiling in pics and I wish I could had met him at PPUSA X!!

You have at least 3 fast food restaurants in Walking distance(1block ) from the venue. If you want a la carte food or do not like pizza, tacos or subway, ok , you have a point.

I agree food or at least wrapped-snacks like protein bars should be allowed in the venue. But I guess it's unlikely to happen.
On Saturday I was able to walk down to DaVinci's, order a pizza, eat it there, and get back to the venue between bands. In fact I still waited ~15 minutes until the next band started. I was not expecting to have that much time though.

Is this what we're doing now? We're bitching about musicians in public in new threads? Really? Can we just fucking not be whiny and understand these people are PEOPLE and are allowed to have moments that they're just not spot on?

Christ you people. They don't owe you smiles and rainbows. They have the right to be in a rush or be tired or be focused on their set.

Chalk it up to bad timing and move the fuck on.

Food is provided in venue - bitching. Suggest to leave the venue - bitching.

Awesome. You guys know the meaning of "compromise" right?

Cheers:
Glenn and Jen. 'Nuf said.
As usual, my brothers and sisters on crew. My family. <3
The bands. Hands down this year, you guys were awesome.
The fans, you moved and helped move people out of my way. THANK YOU!!!!!
My girl posse (+Matt)

Special cheers:
The guys from Oden Orgen. You made me laugh at a time when I needed it most. You didn't know it, but you did it. Thank you.
Stian and Ronnie, for being who you two are. I needed that this weekend and it was awesome.
NO DRAMA!!!!!

Jeers:
Pizza guys. Don't ever fucking park in my spot or block me in.
Douchebag men with inflated opinions of themselves, even more if they happen to be drunk.
Communication fails.
Ravers.

Oh, and a huge CHEER for the smoke-free policy being enforced. I have a health issue that is aggravated by smoke, and this was hugely appreciated.

I did see some comments on FB about smoking being a problem, but I didn't see (or smell) it. Or maybe that happened when I took off for 3 hours and left a merch bag on my seat. (Kidding, kidding...) :)

Were you the one sitting in line in front of me during Sat line for doors that moved because someone started smoking? Dont blame you.

Yes, it is what I am doing when I am a fan of his and he gives me a shitty attitude for wanting a picture with him!! They are not demigods, just regular folk like you say, so while I get your point, his comment was unnecesary cause it makes the fans feel like they dont deserve to take a pic with them. Its not a big deal really, and I love his music, but this was utterly uneccesary. What does he mean 'enjoy the fest'? Being able to drink without having someone approach him for a picture? Wrong line of business then..

JEER: Elevator issues and it not basically being on all day Saturday. We all paid a RIDICULOUS amount of money to park down there this year ($25) just on Saturday alone for the "convenience" of being close to venue, as I believe there is another cheaper deck close by. I have bad feet and running up and down to the car to drop off merch, grab a sandwich, etc is a bit much. Venue needs to leave it on during event times always as it states it will on the wall down in the parking lot.

CHEERS: had a fun time overall, except for the delayed sets all day. Crew needs to carry a baseball bat or something. *insert your favorite mafioso line here* to get those dudes moving more quickly.

oh yeah...MORGANA LEFAY, ANUBIS GATE and ANATHEMA next year! WOOHOO!!!

Can only talk about Friday since I wasn't able to be there Saturday.

Cheers:

1. NEED - wow!
2. Getting to see our friends Stephen and Kari from Oregon - great to see you guys again. Had a blast hanging out with you all day! Hope Sharon can make it next year.
3. Preordering the exclusive Seventh Wonder shirt - didn't have to worry about getting one.
4. Seventh Wonder - great set. One of the several reasons I made this year happen.

Jeers:

1. Getting my snacks confiscated at the door....and the 5 hour energy drink I planned to drink at midnight before my 3 hour drive home at 1 o'clock in the morning to SC.
2. Seventh Wonder sound - loved the set - just hated that the guitars and keyboards were buried...and sometimes the vocals.
3. My friend's pizza order getting messed up.....again. Sorry I had to eat mine in front of you Stephen before it got cold!

I will be back next year, minus 1 right nut. Promised I would sacrifice it if Falconer would ever make it.

I'll make mine short:

Cheers:
1. Glenn, Jen, and the Crew.....awesome job as usual. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks for another great year!!!!
2. The stacked lineup and all the great performances. Thanks to all of them for their hard work preparing for what turned out to be one hell of a festival.
3. To Seventh Wonder for their extra Saturday morning set and the time they took out for their fans to sign everyone's autograph requests and take all their photos (caused a long wait, I know, but still very cool of them)
4. Almost all the fan attendees......everyone seemed to take it all in stride and were all pretty cool.

Jeers:
1. To myself, not being able to make it through ever bands full sets. I did make it through Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and most of Sat. But I had to miss Withem and Divided M. in order to get a little extra rest....and had to miss Voodoo Circle as I opted to get Seventh Wonder's autograph.
2. Not as much of a complaint of the quality or price of the pizza slices available at the venue, just maybe the nerve of them to also put out a tip jar.... I tip on every beer or drink I get, no problem there. Just not on sub par pizza slices.

That's it. Looking forward to next year already!!!!!!!!

Cheers:

1) Getting to see the friends I generally only get to see once a year. You all are what make ProgPower worth coming to year after year more than even the music itself. Special thanks to the gang this year: Amanda, Pat, Greg, Brian, Meg, Tim and Cassie specifically.
2) Glenn and Jen for doing all this for us.
3) JOP. Best set of the festival for me.
4) The Liquid Aristocratic Experience. I enjoyed being douchey with everyone there. Pinkies out!
5) Rick rolling the streets and walkways of Atlanta.
6) The Vortex for being the Vortex. The giant wooden cock was a nice addition.
7) The biggest cheer of all is that this was not the last PPUSA.

Jeers:

1) The vampire.
2) Technical difficulties and miscommunications.
3) I didn't do any geocaching at all. Wanted to find some caches way outside my usual hunting area but didn't have time.
4) The older I get, the faster PPUSA seems to go by. Weren't we just leaving for Atlanta yesterday?
5) The new blue seats. It's harder to see where an empty seat is while it is dark and a band is on without those glaringly obvious bright seats.
6) There are a lot of people I won't see for another year. But as always I look forward to our next encounter.

Left out another CHEER - the Evergrey listening session. I’m more of a casual fan, but thought that this was an extra special addition to the festival. Maybe a Nightwish listening party in 2015? :)

What does he mean 'enjoy the fest'? Being able to drink without having someone approach him for a picture?

My point is that while what he did was kind of a shitty thing to say, there is probably a far greater reason than YOU asking for a picture. I would bet any amount of money, that nearly any other night you approached him, he'd have been more than happy to take a picture, chat you up, or sign a few things.

I'm saying that if it's the first time it's happened, be the bigger man and get over it. I'm sure it had nothing to do with you. If he didn't want to be around fans he didn't need to be in the concourse at all. There's ways for the musicians to get to and fro without seeing anyone.
