Once again a fantastic weekend in Derby. Thanks to all concerned in putting on Bloodstock for us , please keep Kerrang away , no matter how big the Festival gets. We get to do it again next year maybe with Hammerfall , Primal Fear and maybe Grave Digger , Brainstorm , Kamelot etc etc. Cheers!!

Kerrang? Oh hell no, they shouldn't be allowed in. Kerrangs' glory days of having WASP and Saxon on the front cover are over, they call Evanescance 'goth metal' evan! I would hate it for bloodstock to become over-run by kiddies who dress like a rainbow and call Korn metal because they read about it in a magazine. Please don't let it happen!

I actually can't understand exactly what interest Kerrang! and their readership have in Bloodstock? Of course, nobody should be excluded from enjoying/hearing about the festival, but from flicking through a copy of Kerrang! it is immediately apparant that the bands that played this weekend are extremely far removed from those that usually make the pages of the magazine.

Apart from a small review of 'Century Child' a while back, the only other band on the bill that ever gets a mention in there is Paradise Lost.

Maybe they're broadening their horizons?

Oh no , Ive just remembered reading that the mentioned magazine have suffered fading sales so perhaps they are eating major Humble Pie and falling back on what we have cherished for a long time to fill their rag!. Maybe there is a slim chance of a favourable review of Bloodstock but if they trot out the usual "tired" , "jaded" , "not cutting-edge" and "Gumby" (whatever that means) remarks then they should be banished from Derby forever . They surely cant think that they can get away from the continual slagging they have given your average Bloodstock- goer can they ?

Kerrang! mentioned Bloodstock last week, but only as a side-piece to Nightwish's first UK appearances.

Probably right that the second stage would be more their cup of tea, with Invey especially.

Dom Lawson is the only deacent person in Kerrang! (He was the singer in Matter and gives bands like Nile, Emperor and Decapitated great reviews) if he was allowed in then fine, he's a real metalhead but the others are bastard trendies

I'm just worried about all the little penis people who will read about bloodstock and think 'that sounds soooooo cool' and appear next year and overrun the place without having any idea what they are hearing. They really should have thought more carefully about letting kerrang in.

......and what if those 'little penis people' read about Bloodstock and think 'that sounds soooooo cool' and appear next year having checked out a couple of bands from the review and getting into them, downloading a few tracks, following links to other bands sites and getting into them etc?

Remember, if you're looking down on these so called 'little penis people' then there's gonna be someone looking down at you thinking the same thing.

Gotta agree with you there Lee!

I will read their review with an open mind but I do not wait with baited breath.

Half of the acts that appear in Kerrang! can barely be called rock, let alone metal. It would be OK if they just admitted they were a pop/rap/punk rock magazine but they won't, they still try and pass themselves off as being a "metal magazine".

If they slag off in any way what was an amazing weekend of true metal I will join Eagle in ripping off heads and pissing down necks.

Dean.

I've no problem with those people at all, they all have to get into it somehow, I can just see that kerrang will be calling Nightwish 'the new Evanescence' or something equally as terrible, and hence we get alot of Nu fans in True clothing starting to appear or something. I just don't want it to degenerate.

I'm quite happy for Bloodstock bands to gain more fans through the magazine, but it's when you get idiots liking bands for the wrong reasons (i.e. purely because they appeared in kerrang) and swarming events like Bloodstock!

I know I might be sounding like a right bastard here who's unwilling to give people a chance, but that's not the case, I just would like it for bloodstock to remain an event for nice, friendly, beer-guzzling fans!

:D Join me anyway. I loathe the fuckers. In the late 80s and very early 90s they were a respectable metal magazine. Then they started ridiculing bands like Saxon, Judas Priest and Helloween and promoting turds like Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana.

I will not forgive them for this.

Kerrang will say Nu-metal is dead, all hail Saxon and Blaze they're the best thing ever for two weeks, and then cuss them silly and move onto the next trend.

Kerrang is good in that it can be a laugh and brightens up my wednesday lunch-time, but it can't be considered a music magazine, more a lifestyle mag for doom-cookies, Just 17 for Skaters, if you will.

It was a great weekend indeed, was well worth the flight over. I for one cannot wait for the next one! Cheers for a great metal and beer fuelled weekend Bloodstock!

You know, this is something that touches a nerve with me at the moment. The number of times I have played Nightwish to someone and their response has been 'Oh, they're just trying to be Evanesence' is unbelievable!

All of a sudden it seems that some people have assumed Evanesence to be the first female fronted 'metal' band of all time! Christ, the only thing they may have pioneered is nu-mtal with female vocals, they haven't so much as touched the likes of Nightwish!

Yeah, and Evanescence's lead singer described her music as "epic, dramatic dark rock" or something similar. That pisses me off severely because that's almost EXACTLY what Nightwish are! Evanescence, on the other hand, are a dumbed-down (if that's possible) Linkin Park with a female vocalist! And what's with people calling it "goth music"?!
