So what gigs, festivals etc are we eyeing up or definitely going to ladies (are there any posting at the moment?) and gentlemen? Here's how my gig calendar's looking for 2011 so far:

But much to my disappointment, I probably won't be able to make High Voltage (for Judas Priest) or Bloodstock.

I might get a day ticket for the Sonisphere day when "The Big Four" play if they become available but definitely not going for the whole thing. Too fucking expensive for a start.

They're only playing 5 shows in the US, all of them after that 70,000 tons of metal cruise Thankfully they're stopping nearby, I'm so fucking stoked to meet Kai! Might have to get a pic with him and Redfox from this forum, haha!

Do you guys go alone or do you have enough metalhead friends to find gig partners? Currently only know one guy from my Uni who's into metal, so I introduced him to SA and that's why I'm going there.
There's a Rock Music society at Uni which I need to get my arse into gear and join, so that might help.

I used to bring two of my friends to shows, but for the past 1.5 years I've been dragging my girlfriend along (and occasionally the other guys whenever they can make it) since she's a huge metalhead as well!

In terms of seeing established bands, Sheffield is my most local area and I go to more gigs there than anywhere else and because I'm used to it and comfortable with getting there and back etc, I have little problem with going to gigs there on my own and have done this a fair amount of times. Although I do ask various friends if they wanna come with and some do sometimes but safe to say that among my closest friends, I'm the biggest Metalhead!

If it's anywhere further, I seldom even consider the possibility of going on my own. I've done it a couple of times, once to see Power Quest in Derby (although I ended up meeting up with somebody later) and Edguy in Nottingham as luckily I knew I would have plenty of time to make sure I could get the train back afterwards on both occasions.

Well, I'm going to see Helloween + Stratovarius in Oberhausen, Germany, 5/2. I already saw them back in December when they played in Stockholm, but as I'm going to visit a couple of metalhead friends in Germany, they asked me if I wanted to go to any concerts, so they suggested this. I suggest you go see these bands if you have the chance. Saw Stratovarius back in February 2010 and back then they seemed a little tired (might have been because it was the last evening of the tour), but in December they were more energetic. Helloween will always be Helloween, and even though I'm not such a massive fan of their latest album, the new material sure as hell kicks some ass in a live setting.
