I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this album. It's pretty damn good, in fact this is one of those albums that gets better with each listen. I hope they make it out my way, I'd love to see them live....

No doubt. I'd love to hear them play some Montrose stuff or Hagar era Van Halen... And I'd love to hear Statrani do some of his solo stuff....

Been into Sammy since 73 Montrose release, SamHalen is my favorite summertime good feelin music. Satch may be my favorite guitar player, if I had to pick, I just like how he gets it done. I will be getting this record. I lost my "Not for Sale" CD and am not happy about it. Sammy just always sounds right to me, must stem from that early Montrose influence.

Saw the band's second ever show in Vancouver last month. Excellent gig! Everyone played well. The album is really good and plays better in the car as opposed to headphones.

Damn shame. "Stand Up and Shooooout!" (He wrote the Steel Dragon song and recorded it on Not 4 Sale for those of you wondering)

Montrose - S/T was an absolute favorite of mine. When I was a kid I played it non-stop. That album was a tremendous influence.

It was only until a few months ago when I finally tracked down Paper Money. Didn't like the album much but that song on it about fire (I forget the title) was awesome.

Yes, I didnt have Paper Money either, a friend bought that one and it does seem we didnt like it as much. I havent heard in decades, I wore "Montrose" out, one of those records I dont need to play to hear, though the memories are fading, might need a song list, then from there it would be auto pilot. lol

I felt the Montrose or Sammy vib strong on some of the 5150 and OU812 songs. Which always made me wonder who came up with some riffs for all three albums. What was it ? Cabo Wabo ? sounded like a updated Eddie-ized version of Make it Last.

Ronnie was one of the first to really put those power riffs out there like that to my memory. I have Ronnies Mutatis Mutandis on tape, not a bad guitar record. No Surfing with the Alien but some well written songs with great tone and expression.

too bad. thats one of hagars better solo albums and is out of print now

I've listened to the album a few times but didn't grab me as it should have. Maybe will try again when I feel like it, but I got the impression the songs aren't strong enough for such a line-up...

Chickenfoot is a great album. And from the "making of" videos I've seen online, it seems like the guys all got along really well and had a blast making it... Hopefully that means they'll be around for awhile.

I love that album. I like it, like most of the mid and late 70s style hard rock bands. Hope to see them live soon!

I thought it was a pretty disappointing album myself. I'll admit, I was never really a Van Hagar fan to begin with, so I didn't really have any expectations there, but I expected more from Satriani, and was left feeling pretty bored with this album.

some of the songs felt like fluff i would have like to see more from satch otherwise it was a solid album, id give a 6-7.

It seems like a fun album, they were playing at Best Buy when I went to buy the Maiden Flight 666 dvd. In fact Best Buy was really pushing the album with cardboard displays and such. I've got to admit I'm not a big Hagar fan but it seems like it could have potential. I'm sure they put on a good live show also.

I will never get that... DLR was cheezy and predictable with not a very convincing voice box. He sounded good for some of the bluesy stuff he did solo, Comfortable Shoes and such. Entertaining in a Howie Mandel kind of way, Im not a hater, they had some fun songs back then abit primitive by comparision to the later material, but as a vocalist ? I dont get it.

Same here... DLR was good but I always felt Sammy was a much better vocalist. In fact, I felt Sammy did a better job singing the songs from the original Van Halen albums than Dave did. But that's just my opinion.

That fire song was "I've Got The Fire" which funny enough, I first heard as an ancient old Iron Maiden B-Side when Paul was still in the band... There are Bruce & Paul versions available as b-sides, can't remember which singles they were, as I'm not at home...
