Hello guys I was wondering for a while why we love COB, then i decided to make a study of the elements that describe COB music
This study is based on several weighted criteria such as:
-orchestral hits
-Leading melodies intros
-keys / guitars dualities
-various scales exchange
-keys / dual guitars solos
-black voice
-Crystal / blue keyboard sound
-movies spoken words
-song titles
-mysterious/weird/bodom atmosphere
-keyboard dominance
-great keyboard solos
-great guitar solos
-memorable chorus
-extreme power riffing
-Neo classical influences
-progressive song structure
-musicality
-technicality
-Recording quality

then i made a classification of the songs and this is the ranking of all bodom songs:

It's hard to make an order of preference for the songs, but the idea is interesting to count by percentage from the song list which album is best...

i didn't make any order of preference manually. i have filled the blanks in my excel file.
eg : i took a song and check if its contains element i mentienned above, if its contains an element from the list i put 1, if not i left it blank, except for "recording quality" critarias : (7 for hcdr; 6 for RRF; 5 for FTR; 4 for AYDY; 3 for HB; 2 for BD; 1 for SW; 7 for HOB (so far) )
then mark is calculated automatically for each song and so for each album (according of the average note for all songs of the album)

mark are calculated this way :
Hate me mark = [(5*1)+(7*1)+(4*1)+(3*1)+(7*1)+(3*1)+(8*1)+(1*1)+(5*1)+(6*1)+(7*1)+(5*1)+(5*1)+(6*1)+(1*5)]*100/104 = 74%
and so for all songs.

according to my analysis, transference is 8th of all bodom songs with 82% . which is true imo. it deserved indeed

I love science, but here it doesn't work for me personally. Ugly is a good song, but nowhere near the top 15. And a song like Banned from Heaven would be a lot higher in my book.
I do love seeing that long list of songs and how I love at least 80% of them, and really like the other 20%.

This list is not about best or worst song. this is about the most representative song of bodom. the higher the song is, the more it countains bodom elements that everybody love.
and this is somehow the preference order since i couldnt order the 63 songs manually, that helped me a lot.

^this! You could also add some kind of weighting factor for each(if possible) criteria that takes into account of how often the presence of each criteria is if it's not already done and renormalize.

What is "Cristal/blue keyboard sound"? What are you looking for in the song titles? Why does a memorable chorus weigh so much? It's not like we're dealing with pop music. Keyboard dominance, is that a good thing? Not in my view.

I think numbers are already filled as they much the existence of the criteria on the song.
the thing that could make a difference between fans is the weight of criteria. the blank file are atached on the excell file (check sheet 1)
