Christians suck; world still turns

Comedy quote of the day:

God: "There it is, my creation, the earth, all perfect and grand; and now, I can rest. Ahhhhh...

...

"Oh my meeee... I left fuckin' pot everywhere. I should never have smoked that joint on the third day. If I left pot everywhere, then that means people are gonna think they can use it... shit. Now I have to create republicans."

This isn't really relevant, but I think it's hilarious and felt like sharing.

Wow, I was really dumb in high school:

Copernicus set humanity on a path to enlightenment, a course from which there would be no regression to any more ages of darkness. His radical, yet reasonable new theories revolutionized not only the tenets of astronomy, but it opened the floodgates of science, which from that point on would steadily prevail against the ancient principles backed by Western tradition. For this, Nicolaus Copernicus, son of Poland, easily stands as one of history’s influential elite. Copernicus demonstrated how better understanding our universe does not kill God, rather it brings us closer to God through knowledge, and not just blind faith.

I am not saying that bad things aren't bad, and that the reasons they happen aren't bad. I do not write off everything bad that happens as "God's will". I only try to trust God and ask for help in the midst of it and thank him for what I have. I don't know what his plans might be or how different events are part of them or work together to whatever outcomes. I do believe he is not as concerned with our personal comfort as we think he should be.

All I was pointing out was that the bible says to pray for your leaders, and that's the extent of the political agenda my pastor is going to speak to the church. He is not even saying who he is voting for. It's in line with the original subject matter of this thread, which is why I brought it up.

Fair enough, if that's really what you meant. I just find it really disturbing how often Christians bring up the "leave everything to God" idea, because it's 100% wishful thinking.

Wow, proof of God's nonexistence! If I had only known

Not really... but if God had indeed designed creatures like Plasmodium falciparum it shows that he enjoys coming up with ingenious ways of killing and torturing his creations.
