Classic Albums

Falconer has put out better releases than Elvenking, in the same 'sub genre' and they are nowhere near a Classic standpoint.

Heathenreel is the only great thing that Elvenking has released and it's better than every Falconer album, but the Falconer discs are better than the rest of Elvenking's material.

^KIUAS!

Spirit of Ukko should be a power metal classic, in my opinion. But unfortunately, it's not influential enough. Amazing record though.

Also, I hadn't thought about Falconer, but I'd actually agree partially with rms. The s/t Falconer album was released in the same year as Heathenreel, and it's fucking phenomenal. Even if Elvenking are still included, Falconer at least deserves a mention.

I'd add (for American epic/trad/power):
Manilla Road- Crystal Logic
Cirith Ungol- Frost and Fire
Manowar- Battle Hymns
Jag Panzer- Ample Destruction
Crimson Glory- s/t
Brocas Helm- Into Battle

Anyone want to add/edit this list, go ahead.

EDIT: Also (if we're going to include Elvenking) Skyclad should have a place on the list for folk metal.

I approve of all but Manowar. But, I know I'll have the majority against me, so I guess my opinion won't make much of a difference.

And yeah, Skyclad are kinda good... I've only heard The Silent Whales of Lunar Sea, it's a great album but not essential to me.

Falconer has never, even at their best (Chapters), been even close to being as great as Elvenking were on Heathenreel.

I don't like the thin sounding production of the s/t D:

The Winter Wake is given far too much shit as far as Elvenking releases go tbqh.

This thread is lolocaustic.

Metal heads are elitist bastards by nature, thus we'll never agree on a list. I think that's been proved here already, the majority of the thread consists of insults aimed at different genres, opinions, and other posters. Very entertaining, though, feel free to continue.
