Classics Reborn

This years been better than I thought too. Just going through some of my 2020 purchases for other threads and despite the shitty year, it's been a fairly strong year for good releases.

Would be hard to come up with a top 10 if I was a blind devotee of King Gizzard, they released 5 albums this year :)

It's an advantage of doing everything independently while still having the following to support all the shit you produce. All 5 albums were released through their own distribution. It is only one studio album though. There is 3 live albums from different parts of the world, but again that's a perk of being independent, no label to tell you how many live recordings to release. But the 1st release of the year was a full length KG movie of their world tour 2019 with their music as the sound track. It was supposed to be cinema released but due to covid they had to do it on Viemo pay per view and it was so popular they had to run an encore which was when the also decided to release it as a double vinyl.

Yeah kudos to them. It must take a hell of an effort and they will probably never be millionaires but if they can tour the world playing music, and weird music at that, then I don't know that they'd be too disappointed.

Heavy Metal Universe needs to get a new picture of Mortal Sin, they use that same picture every time the mention the band. I suppose the idea of a band hanging off a police vehicle shows some kind of rebellion but they need something different. At least the clip is not one of the same old tired clips they usually use, 2008 was well past their prime though.

How many other bands out there can say their drummer retired from playing drums to become a stand up comedian? If only he'd been a funny stand up comedian it might have been a good move too!!

In their prime sure, from Mayhemic Destruction to Rebellious Youth (Every Dog Has It's Day overseas) they were an amazing band and very few could match them. But sadly after that between band members leaving and not having a solid team to co-write, things went down hill. It's a pity they'll never be what they once were, even more of a pity that they probably wont ever reform with their classic line up.

As much as his book is about fishing and less about metal I actually want to read it. Adrian comes off as a really cool guy.
I'd be in line to read anything Dave wrote too.
Actually fuck it I'll read anything any of the Maiden boys release :)

Well there ya go, someone else actually did it. Is he funny or just like Steve Hughes should have kept drumming?
Lol I can't believe I actually had one. I'm not really sure how he is. I haven't listened to Stern in over 10 years. But I think that he does do stand up shows. So someone must think he's funny!
