Classics Reborn

Yes they are! I wish some of the bootlegs I bought off the Testament site years ago had had ratings...although I probably would have bought them anyway! :p

Most of the Testament ones I have found have been fairly good, although I did cherry pick them as desk recordings so they should be quite good.

Yeah I have couple of those too and yes the quality was disappointing. I wonder if they’re worth anything?!

Given how easy they are to get now days I'd imagine unless it can be proven to be something special prices wouldn't be that high. I have seen a few sites selling bootlegs for up to $50, but most of the time those bootlegs have been available for free elsewhere anyway.

I'm listening to the new live Maiden album Nights Of The Dead (Live in Mexico) and while I wont jump on the Brucie Bruce bashing just for the sake of it I will say at first his voice is a little hard to get used to at first. Breaking out with Aces High, you know the words, you know how they are sung and you recognise the voice but it's not the same as it's been for 35 years. Not sure if it's a little flat, or if age is screwing up his harmonies but it's the difference is quiet obvious. By the time he gets into Where Eagles Dare (second song) his voice is a bit more what we are used to. Not sure if maybe he needed a better warm up or what but it's almost like two Brucie Bruces.

I'm sure age and medical are reasons for the change and for a guy his age he does an amazing job. But the change between the opening song and the second song it quite dramatic. However after listening to it all I realise it's not just Brucie sounding different, nearly every song has something different. A different solo, a different break, I know some online heroes are claiming it's because Maiden are too old and don't have the chops for metal any more, but I think it's brilliant and adds something new to the old songs. I really like what I've heard of this album, maybe not as good as Live After Death, but it could be close.

I was also listening to the 30th Anniversary of Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Damn that's an amazing concert even after all the remixes and remakes.

When in the tour did they film this? If it's near the end I guess I understand.

It was part of the tour they started in 2018 and are technically still doing. It was recorded in September last year and I don't remember how many shows they did before the end of the year but they were still on the road when covid hit.
Songs like For The Greater Good Of God, The Clansman, even Hallowed Be Thy Name are classic Bruce, his voice, although you can hear the years behind him, is excellent. It really is just Aces High that sounds a bit off and being the first song it's understandable. Maybe he just forgot to gargle his antacid.

I don't think they do many bad shows but there are some shows that aren't as good as others. I think shows like Live After Death and Rock in Rio were pinnacle shows, where as Death on The Road and Live At Donnington were not quiet as good. This one I'd definitely rate up there with LAD and RIR. But I'll listen to it again today and see if that idea changes.

So I'm listening to a bootleg of Maiden, same tour as the new release, pretty much the same track list recorded off the desk a few days after the official release and Bruce's voice is different again through Aces High, but nearly the same as we've come to expect from him by the time he's into the second song. I guess it just takes him a few minutes to warm up these days.

I haven't really seen one since Rock N Rio? I used to watch Maiden England all the time.

Death On The Road was the last one I bought on DVD, and before that I bought a CD/DVD copy of Live After Death to replace my scratched LP copy, but the most recent one I bought on CD was...the new one!

I've only got Maiden Japan on VHS so I haven't seen that for ages, but I did download the full Maiden Japan concert of the VHS recently. I only ever have the EP but it was unofficially released as a 17 track live.

If you guys want any of the bootlegs and lives I've found just let me know and I'll PM you the address. Some of the sites I get them off get really shitty when they find people sharing their bootlegs and stuff publicly on other sites so I don't want to offer up the address' in threads.

Listen to a 2014 Rock Am Ring concert of Maiden's and it's amazing to hear the show open with Moonchild, and include a mix of Seventh Son songs and older stuff like Can I Play With Madness, The Prisoner, Seventh Son, Phantom Of The Opera and The Evil That Men Do

I wonder if they have the most live albums of all the metal bands?

Will do! :kickass:

Some people cry like the do,but I'm not sure. I know they've released a live album for the majority of their tours in the last 25 years but there is bound to be bands out there who have self released live shit because they have nothing else.
