Classics Reborn

I found a live bootleg of Metal Church back in the Wayne days over the weekend. I didn't download it because it was only a short gig but it's about as close as I get to wanting to see a MC show :)

Na, looking at the NA stuff that was available I'm tending to think that the site was less about bootlegs and possibly more about free music for all because all the NA albums were there and one or two of what I thought were demos where actually out of print EPs.

The MC live was one of those free hosting services.

Well Kurdt can do it all, he is amazing.

Which makes me think the live MC I downloaded must be shit because Kurdt wasn't even in the band :)

The gig might have been a good one without Kurdt but the sound was bloody terrible. This shit is saved in 320kbs but shit is shit and it actually sounds like the it was recorded on a walkman stuck in someone's pocket who got there late and had to stand outside the closed venue!

I know downloading bootlegs and live recording that aren't official isn't always going to produce gems but the sort of person who thinks it's worth sharing a live gig where you can hear 10 people screaming "fuck yeah" but on 80% volume still can't hear a note being played is a fuckwit.

I don't have a problem with shitty bootlegs, not every live recording can be direct from the desk. I can even listen to some less than stellar recordings if it's a band I like. But to actually suggest a recording is worth sharing when you can't even pick who the band is because the music level is so low is just weird.

Sites like that one I posted a few weeks back with COC and Testament etc at least rate their recordings, at a glance you can see if the recording is straight off the desk or from other sources. They wont share anything less than a 3 on their scale, but I wont download anything less than a 7, and so far I haven't been let down by sound like I found on that Metal Church one. I downloaded another Testament gig from 2001 from another site and the sound of that is quite good for a fan recording....you can actually hear the music :)

I found one for Flots recorded in 87 which states it was recorded on an Akai tape deck. I have no intention of downloading it but at least they were honest :)
