Classics Reborn

I think VH albums were more 17 minutes a side in the Roth days lol. I know a lot of rock albums and Punk albums were short a lot. But I don't have many metal albums like that.
Hmm, actually I wonder what Killing Is My Business clocks in at?

KIMB 31:10
PSBWB 36:12
SFSGSW 34:26
Slayer
SNM 35:02
HA 37:11
RIB 28:55

30-45 mins seemed about average up until the 90's and whether it was deliberate or not that coincided with recordable cassettes also being 60 and 90 mins. 100 and 120 min tapes were available but the likes of TDK etc really didn't make them in high numbers for the home consumer market until the mid 90's because they considered the length of tape too stretchy.

Well that's true and the people who buy that shit are morons buying a name, let's face it the same fuckwits brought locks of his hair and it couldn't even be proven it was his. Look at that dick who bought Mustaine's guitars, he paid a price for the name and the name alone, he didn't give a shit who they belonged to he wanted them to convince people to use his studio or services.

I agree that Jason's talent should be more respected and recognised than people like Cobain, but I tend to think someone who pays for Jason's guitar is a fan and is someone who will actually use it for themselves not to make money and that's exactly what Jason wants to happen with them.
I forgot about the hair! Bwahahaha!

Yeah hopefully they are real fans and it's not just something for them to flip. Did they say if the three guitars went to one person or not? I suppose I can read it for myself. :)

Mean, seems like just Metallica and Flotsam were making long albums in the 80's And well really their whole career. Oh and Overkill and Metal Church with Howe.

I remember after CD's started to become more popular I'd always look at the total time on the CD player. I liked value for my money and at 45 min + it seemed like value but that was obviously a mental thing because there is a crap load of classics that clock in under 45 mins.

Bands like Maiden and Helloween etc did re-write the book a bit with times but when you consider bands like King Crimson were dropping 20min epics back in the 70's and Pink Floyd to a lesser extent after that you can see the book was never a definite rule but did seem like a well used rule.

King Crimson is older than Pink Floyd? I never really thought about it because they are so old but King Crimson is actually a pretty cool name lol.

No they aren't older but PF were 4 albums in before the started writing the 40min + epic albums. KC did it from the start in '68. Although KC's first album wasn't as long as I first thought but it does have a 12 min song on it.

In The Court Of The Crimson King a classic album and the opening song 21st Century Schizoid Man is a great prog tune and a memorable riff.

For some reason I thought Adam Heart Mother and Piper At The Gates Of Dawn had some long songs. But I haven't heard that stuff since I was a teenager. :)
