As so often happens on a Saturday morning we spend time sitting around the table being lazy, eating breakfast, drinking coffee etc. and music often comes up so given that I was reading about Jason Becker's birthday this week I loaded up Triumphant Hearts on YT. My eldest who is currently into all sorts of stuff, and a little too much core shit for my liking, was absolutely gob smacked how Triumphant Hearts was created and how Jason manages to make music. Never seen her so amazed about the creation of music.

As much as she listens to shitty core stuff she is starting to appreciate music a bit more than just listening too it. She likes a good story too and although she hasn't seen the Jason Becker doco yet she'd probably sit and watch that over some Hollywood blockbuster.

I watched one of the 'at home' Obituary shows last week. It's clear they were having fun and it's good that they put on such a show for fans but I am glad I didn't pay for it.

I haven't got a decent copy of it. I downloaded it off YT the night my wife and I watched it. I'll either have to do the same again or see if it's purchasable.

I believe there is another Becker doco in the making too.

I know we've all pretty much seen and read most stuff about Jason and we know how he communicates but this is just further proof how innovative his father was in creating a way for them to communicate. I think showing my daughter the video a few moments ago has blown her mind and left her speechless.

I know he's not metal but in what started as bad week for music just got a little bit worse with the announcement that Dusty Hill of ZZ Top has died. 50+ years the band has been together with no line up changes, that's a hell of an effort for three guys
