Classics Reborn

I'm kinda torn on Wayne. I really like Watch The Children Pray and some other songs. but I hated Masterpiece. The production didn't help.
But I haven't given his solo stuff the time I should.

I feel the same about Reverend I listened to as much as I could on YT and liked some of it, I really liked other parts, but at the same time I didn't give it enough time to push me to try and buy any of it. The solo album Wayne I remember had some good moments too.

So I've known about this for years. but not when they were actually together. This is my first listen and wow!! It's so good and actually sounds a lot like Metal Church music wise. Hail Mike Howe!!

I do like this. Mike's voice back then was brilliant. I wonder if it's still available to purchase.

I was just doing some reading. It appears Dennis Ohara (Bass) and Brian Korban (guitars) went on to play with Reverend and both rejoined Heretic in 2011 but only Korban stayed. The current bass and guitarists are also ex members of Reverend. But Reverend has continued with out Wayne and been active so that may not be too surprising.

I also found a copy, not sure if it's on YT, of Snair who released one demo in 1988 with Mike on Vox.

Yeah right? I'm going to keep an eye out for the physical...physical, like it's been digitized for sale lol.
Wait would be some crazy symmetry if they ended playing with Wayne. Metal dosey doe.
I've never heard of that band at all. How is it?

They did play with Wayne in Reverend. Reverend had a lot of players come and go, but the weird thing is they seem to have had more members come and go after the band stopped recording. The last album they recorded was in 1991 with Wayne but then they did several EP's and demos until 2001 with Wayne and nothing since, but they've had 23 members since Wayne left. What a weird band!

It's still got me stunned that Scott Ian's brother was the drummer in Reverend but I've never heard Scott speak of him.

Snair only released a demo. I haven't heard it yet because I'm listening to Heretic and my wife is supposed to be working from home, but she is spending more time out in the kitchen than she is working so I can't make noise while she's on the phone!

HOLY CRAP!!!
That Snair demo is so raw!
Mikes vocals are so raw!
4 songs isn't enough.
If you want it I've got a clean site download for it.

Wow. 23? That's insane.

Yeah I have never heard Scott mention his brother. Guess he never got famous enough. :)

Haha nice! I need to listen again. It's really much better than I was expecting. Very well put together.

They may well have done live gigs therefore there's been come backs and periods of hiatus or something but 23 members in less than 20 years a does seem a bit excessive.

I believe Scott's brother has given up a music career now so maybe he's not worth of mentioning :)

There is some other Heretic stuff on YT which doesn't sound too bad. The stuff is a lot more recent, only about 10 years old, but it doesn't sound like their singer quite fits the music.

I wondered what the non Howe stuff sounded like. I'll have to check it out. It would practically be impossible to follow Howe after I've heard the Breaking Point album now lol.

I found A time Of Crisis on YT in separate songs but the latest A Game You Cannot Win was missing a few songs on YT.
I'd loved to have heard Howe sing on the other songs!

You are but you weren't here and I didn't have your email.
Msg me your email and I'll send the link (or it is available on that rarities site, I can just offer the option of not having to log on and saying thanks :) )

Yeah that would have been killer. What a powerhouse of a voice!

His voice early on would really have kicked the more recent stuff from Heretic out of the park. Like I say what I got of YT for the latest album was a drop in quality of both music and writing but I could still see Mike kicking it harder than the current vocalist.

He was a powerhouse of a singer. He's a huge loss to the metal world.
Seeing some of the old pics of him is like seeing old pics of Michael Kiske of Helloween. The two of them looked so different in the 80's with their long hair it's hard to believe they turned into what they did :)
